It was an eventful week last week. Glad it's over! I got some cavities filled on June 1 and there was one that was really bugging me. I've never had fillings hurt so I thought it was all in my head and that I was just being a wus, plus I went to a new dentist this year so I thought maybe it was just aftermath of a new technique. Well the pain just plan sucked. I was practically drinking Ibuprofen around the clock and it was still almost unbearable. Each day I thought it will get better, but it never did. So two weeks later, as I sat in the dental chair... again... I just had a breakdown and burst into tears. The dentist did an X-ray and said it looked FINE. That made me cry even more to think it was all in my head and I would hurt like this forever. The dentist said based off symptoms he would drill in the tooth and put some numbing medication in there. If you know me well, you know that the dentist is a huge fear of mine and I get some major anxiety. I was there... but the pain was so horrible I looked forward to being numbed. They numbed me up really well then he got out his drilly-tool and went to town. He said he was really surprised to get in there because my tooth was 'necrotic' and was dead. No wonder! He drilled out the top part of the nerve, filled it up with numbing stuff, and sent me home with antibiotics and pain medication. My tooth and jaw were inflamed and swollen worse than when I got my wisdom teeth out. He then told me that I would need a) a root canal b) a crown c) to reschedule my dental cleaning. Well, I THOUGHT we had good dental insurance since it's through Intermountain Healthcare, but boy was I wrong. They only have a $1000 maximum they pay, and we are at 850 before any of that. So a crown is out of the question and I'm going to have to scrounge up the money for a root canal. Horrible. At least I had some relief from the pain. It still hurt bad, but it was a different, bearable pain.
Don't worry, the weekend was much better! We went to Park City. It was a mix between a summer vacation/Anniversary/Father's Day Trip. We left Friday after Kale got home from work. We had travelocity-ed a place that was right off Park City's Resort. It was really homey. Sophie did great on the drive there. She was all set up with some treats and the iPad. We were tired when we got there and were excited to check in and watch some movies together. We ate at the Baja Cantina, one of my favorite places to eat, and then came back to our room. Sophie is such a sweetie, I just love her.
The next day we had breakfast at Squatters and then headed out for some adventures. We were going to try out the Alpine Slide!
It was really hot, but Sophie did so good. I have a fear of heights, so sitting next to such precious cargo on the slowest chair lift EVER didn't help my case. She sat still for me, but was very fidgety and bored by the time we made it to the top.
The slide was a blast. I am a wus so we went on the designated slow track, ha! A gopher jumped out and was just chilling on the track in front of us, so I had to brake and shooo him off, but other than that it was a lot of fun. Sophie loved it and kept asking for the slide again.
We took a pit-stop and tried the Merry go Round, which she loved and was SO SAD to get off of.
Next Kale took Sophie on the slide. She didn't like the idea of being separated from me and apparently screamed and cried the entire (Slow) chairlift. Kale went on a faster track and told me he didn't ever brake! She loved it!
Another pit stop on a kiddie-ride before we left. It was hot, but such a beautiful day and Park City is SO pretty. I'd love to be able to afford to live up there!
We came home, had a nap, and then went Swimming! Sophie loves swimming. She's pretty cautious, which I like. She liked kicking her legs and blowing bubbles. It tempts me to want to put her into swimming lessons again. We tried when she was younger and she just wanted to swim instead of learn and listen.
After swimming, we got all showered up and then watched another show. There were two beds, so Sophie had her own bed. She thought that was pretty cool. We had lots of treats and chips, and watches shows. She's getting to be such a big girl! I love her so much.
Sunday we checked out and got some sandwiches for a picnic. We went to Echo reservoir and spent the afternoon playing. Sophie loved the sand and put her shovel and bucket to good use.
It was windy and the water was cold, but that didn't stop us from having a few dips!
It was so much fun! Sophie hated wearing her life-jacket though...
Kale, the boy who hates cold water, manned the treats while we took a swim. We had a fun little set-up. It made us wish we had a boat or jet skis though!
Sophie is so lucky to have such a great Daddy! Kale is such a great guy and takes such good care of his little family. He is so patient and caring, and helps me so much. Sophie just loves him and is such a Daddy's girl. Happy Father's Day Kale!
It was a fun weekend. Today I got caught up on laundry and housework. That's the bad part about a vacation: the coming home/cleaning up part. Today we went to the Splash Pad though and had a fun morning.
Sophie has shown a great interest in ice cream lately, so I got her her very own cone today. It was so cute. She was hot and flushed, and I think she thought it was a pretty delicious treat!
I love my little family so much, Sophie is so much fun and I love having days off to spend with her!
