Albion Basin

About once a year Kale's mom hauls the family up to Albion Basin for family pictures. We were running late because Kale had to work. We weren't sure we would even make it for the pictures, but we did. It's quite the drive... Albion is the dead end past Snowbird and Alta. Sophie is such a beautiful girl. I can't believe how big she looks, how long her hair is, and how beautiful her smile is! I just love having her in our family. Girls are pretty fun to dress up. I am pretty simple, so I love a pair of cute jeans, sneakers, and a bright shirt on her!

She didn't stay clean long. She was having so much fun walking around and the trail was so dusty. She likes to go up and down things, so the inclines were perfect, and there was a little bridge she loved stepping on and off of.

The ones from the actual photographer will take a month or two apparently, but I took a few snap shots after. We got some good ones with Sophie actually looking at the camera and smiling, I am excited to see the pictures! After the pictures I wanted to hike to Secret (Cecret) Lake. Kale said they used to do that hike a lot when he was little and he remembers it vividly. I thought it would be fun to try the hike. Kale's family is about as active as a family of sloths but we did talk his parents into coming.

The bugs were bad and Sophie was grumpy, so we turned around after only about 15 minutes. On the way back we let her dip her feet in the stream, which she didn't really like - which makes us know she is grumpy because she always loves water.

Near the end I let Sophie hiked the rest of the way down and she loved it!

We made it to the car, changed a diaper and headed down for dinner at Outback. We relied on the iPad to keep Sophie happy throughout dinner. She likes to play with the silverware in cups. She loves fries and ate quite a few of those. We barely made it through dinner before a meltdown! Luckily I had Sophie's blanket and bottle ready for the ride home. We kept the iPad playing and Sophie made it home and to bed!

Braids

Sophie does this cute but kind of fake smile, it's really cute. I actually love it! After our baths we usually sit up on the counter to brush our teeth and comb our hair. She loves to play in the sink. I usually turn the water to a trickle and she dips her own toothbrush or splashes with her feet. I love that her hair is so long and enjoy trying out new hair styles. I am not as talented as some, but enjoy trying braids and putting her hair into pony-tails and stuff. Etsy is my favorite place for felt hair clips, it's fun to get ones that match her outfits perfectly!

She also likes to get a drink after brushing her teeth. The faucet in her bathroom is perfect for that.

Ky and Preston's Wedding

What a busy month! My sister got married yesterday and my brother is getting married Thursday.

Today was a hard day (see last paragraph).

Luckily I have this sweet baby to bless and brighten my life.

Preston and Kylie (my sis) got married yesterday! It was beautiful. They were married in the Logan temple. I met at my Mom's house so I could ride up there with my family. (this is the last place I remember having my phone).

I was able to attend their ceremony (thanks Kale for staying home with the baby) and take pictures after. We had over an hour to kill before lunch so it was a lot of fun to experiment and snap a ton of photos (over 1100). Here are a few. I apologize, there are so many I just randomly picked some that the thumbnails looked good - I don't have the time or energy to look at make sure everyone's eyes are open and the pictures look good, ha! My sister looked so beautiful and the day was wonderful! It was so nice to attend the ceremony and made me love my husband so much ( or at least remind me of how much I love him). Preston is such a great guy with a great family; I am so happy for my sister!

I just love my Dad. He is the best. Words cannot express what a great guy he is!

After the pictures we ate lunch at Maddox. It was delicious! We went home and were able to visit with some family and friends, and then finish setting up for the Reception. It was really hot so we all had to go home and freshen up. The time really got away from us and we were scrambling to set up the food and weren't able to get many pictures before people started lining up to see Ky and Preston. I didn't stand in the line because I was busy following my sweet Sophie around. She loved it. My cute little Grandpa made it over and we got a pictures of my Mom's side of the family.

It was all fun and games until Sophie found the treat table! I kept envisioning her pulling the table cloth and having three chocolate fountains come crashing down. Luckily she found a little friend in Preston's second cousin. She was about a year and a half older than Sophie, but Sophs thought it was fun to hand out with her and spent the next hour following her around the reception.

My sweet cousin, Heather and my parents with Sophs:

I love my family!

I wasn't even the one getting married but still thought it was all kind of stressful and was relieved when it was over ;) Kale took Sophie home at the end of the reception and got her in bed. The night wasn't over: we had to clean, do dishes, put away tables, pick up trash, haul several loads of food and decorations/supplies home, and take the presents to my Mom's. We all watched Preston and Ky open their gifts which was fun. We looked through some pictures and finished unloading all the cars. I was physically and emotionally exhausted and after looking for my phone for a while and not finding it in the mess of stuff, I just came home and crashed.

About 845 I woke up with a sick feeling in my stomach and it hit me that I was supposed to work today. I had totally forgotten that, and felt horrible. That is such an un-reliable thing to do and I really let my coworkers down. I have not been able to get over it today, and just can't believe it happened. We dont' have a home phone, just our cell phones, and my work didn't have my husband's phone number. My phone is also my alarm/clock so I had no idea. Usually I look over my calendar but the past few days have just been a whirlwind. I feel really bad, it's considered a no-call no-show which is a big deal. They had the shift covered and I begged to come in but the charge nurse said she would rather just keep the staff they brought in special to cover and they only had two patients with 1 going home. I have stressed and mulled over it all day and feel HORRIBLE. I know it is done and I can't change it, but it doesn't make me feel any better right now, and I am hoping I can find peace with what happened.

Grandma's Toy Room

I think I've mentioned before that since my siblings have gotten married and moved out, my mom has several 'free' rooms. She turned one room into Sophie's Playroom! Sophie loves it. The minute we walk into Grandma's house, she beelines for her room and will stay in there for hours. We have several cool train sets, lots of books, dolls, movies, and toys! Every once in a while Sophie will wander out to check out the rest of what's going on in the house, then head back to her little room. It is so cute!

Chees-ey Fingers

Oh man, I love my Sophs. This girl loves doritos, pizza, and dried blueberries. I'm pretty sure those are her current favorite foods. She is getting so big and looks more grown up each day I get her out of her bed! She is saying so many more words, it surprises me sometimes! She is so tall, and long and lean. She loves swimming, the bath tub, and watching TV, ha! She loves her Mama and still has some major stranger anxiety! She is starting the tantrum/hitting phase. At home it's easy, I just ignore it, but out and about it's a bit embarrassing. I think that's half the reason we've just stayed home lately. After assaulting several children at various activities lately, I have become intolerant of her un-predictable-ness and would rather just deal with it at home. She is such a sweet girl though, and I love her smile and her kisses and cuddling! She is so smart and I see the wheels going a million miles an hour in her head. Her hair is still so long, and getting so thick. It's getting lighter too. Her eyes are still so blue, and I see lots of variations in them. I can't believe she'll be two soon, it blows me away to think that time has gone by so fast. I love her so much, and want to enjoy her for several more years before we add another little one to our family. I can't imagine having two, phew, it makes me tired just thinking about it.

I had so much energy at the beginning of the summer and were trying to go out and do something fun 3-4 times a week. Know we're back to our winter routine: watching a lot of TV (horrible, I know). Life has felt very very busy lately. Hopefully after my sibling's two upcoming weddings my life will be easier. I'm not even getting married and feel super stressed. My sister gets married Saturday and my brother on the 11th, they both take out their endowments Thursday, I have two major doctor appointments, and we are moving my brother in his condo and my Aunt in my old FW house. My house is currently a mess. I feel slightly burnt out from bootcamp; this is my last week so I'm trying to make it count and plan on going twice a day. I have lost 6 lbs so far since I started and feel a lot better. I hope I can keep it up after this session is over. I plan on doing it again in a few months around the holidays to stay in shape. I am still calorie counting and trying to eat healthy choices and lots of proteins.

The summer has gone by so fast, it's very sad. There are so many things I still want to do as a family. Oh well, maybe next summer!

Being Active

Being active is great, but sometimes can be a hard switch. My idea of a great night is sitting on the couch, eating something, watching my favorite shows, and then going to bed. Making my lifestyle change to eating healthy and being active as a family has been difficult. Kale, the tall thin man I married, has no interest in working out or eating healthy, ha. I fly solo on a lot of things.

This is the second week of my bootcamp. I have kind of hit a wall and lost the motivation and energy, but somehow I always seem to make it there and I'm glad I do. Sometimes I can't believe I have the physical energy to do the intense workout in the 1 hour. I have never sweat more in my life, ever, and I hate to sweat. I am much less sore this week and feel better overall. I told myself I wouldn't weigh often, but I had to today, and sadly I have only lost 2 pounds, which is frustrating because I feel like I have been so strict at my calorie counting and working out. My trainer said that sometimes it takes week for the body to catch up though, and my body fat % is what really matters. I try to do something extra each week on top of the bootcamp. I usually swim laps Thursday morning, and then try to hike, bike, or jog.

This week we went hiking. It was a night hike. We didn't start until 920pm! It wasn't planned that way, it just happened. We did an intense bootcamp (lower body), then came home, had a quick dinner, and headed up for the trail. Kylie and her Fiance Preston came, and then Kale, Sophie, and I. Sophie had the best seat in the house, in the carrier!

So I knew waterfall canyon was a steep hike, but man it was harder than I remembered. I had the 25 extra pounds of Sophie, which didn't help, plus since we just worked out, I felt kinda Blah. I did ok: needed a hand on some of the steep rocky parts, but we made it. Luckily I had packed two flashlights, but the batteries on one were crappy. So Ky and Preston used two cellphones to see where they were going, the one working flashlight Kale had, and I just went on faith that I wouldn't trip. Near the end it was pitch black. I kept saying to everyone: let's go five more minutes then turn around, but I just can't stand to not complete things, and I had to make it to the top. We made it there (not that we could see anything). We sat for a few minutes to catch our breath, then headed down. Hiking downhill can be just as hard sometimes - it always feels like my toes are going to bust through the front of my shoes. Sophie throws off my balance, too. She was pretty fussy (she didn't want to get back in the carrier, she would rather play in the water). After a few minutes she was just laying on me with her blanket. I kept thinking she'd be asleep but then she'd talk or point at things. It is so fun to spend time with my family, I just love my baby! We made it down about 1040, stopped for drinks (since we hadn't packed any - we were ill prepared). It was so awesome to have made it!

Yesterday was quite an interesting day. Ky and I wanted to go biking on Legacy Parkway today. I woke up, got ready, loaded everything up and rushed to frontrunner. We were about 5 minutes too late though. I had made the effort to get us there so we just went to Ky's condo to wait for the next train leaving an hour later. We thought we left with enough time, but were unloading the bikes when Frontrunner pulled up - and left. Two trains missed! Oh my goodness. Bad luck. It was probably good because Sophie was getting ready for her nap so she was fussy! We went back to Ky's condo and got in our swimsuits so we could take a dip! We didn't have a swim diaper, so we just took our chances. Sophie spent spend most of her time on the steps or floating with me. The best part of this story is when I noticed she had a little bulge near her bum. Yep, she pooped in the pool with no swim diaper on! I was like.... OH.MY.GOSH. Ky and I about died laughing. With little resources and energy, I ended up just flinging it out in the trash and we kept swimming. Oh my goodness, the adventures of being a mom. After, Sophie napped for about two hours. When she woke up, her diaper was SOOO FULL it was leaking. Sadly, that was the last diaper I had, too! Ky had none, and I wasn't in my car so I had no backups. I had only brought two since we planned to bike in the morning. We took the brick of a diaper off while we tried to think of a plan, and within minutes, Sophie peed on ky's tile floor. We were dying laughing and had no idea what we were going to do! We improvised: I got a Kotex pad, a dishcloth, and a safety pin and we made a makeshift diaper and rushed to the store. I guess it worked well enough to get to the store, even though Sophs had already peed through it when we got there.

We finally got a diaper and made it on the train. Sophie must have just been having a hard day because the first mile or two she cried and whined. I felt bad, but I was determined to finish our bike ride after the hard work we'd taken to get there! Pretty soon she was quiet and seemed to enjoy it. I kept feeling her kick her feet up to relax and rest them on my back! Silly girl!

Our ride was 1 15 minutes and we went just over 12 miles. It was a hard ride, I had no energy but it was fun.

Summer is going by way too fast!! I have been working extra shifts so it seems like I just live there. I will be glad to have a more normal schedule this fall.

Bootcamp

Well I'm at my heaviest I've ever been and it is quite depressing. I remember feeling 'fat' in high school. Since then, I've gained almost 60 pounds. I bring it upon my self - I don't work out on a regular basis and have a big love relationship with all things food. While I know we all can't stay as thin after having kids as when we were a mia maid, I do know that I need to do something about this. I stuck to a pretty good diet and working out here and there routine a few months ago, but fell off that Wagon after a few weeks.

Monday I signed up for Biofit Bootcamp. My sister has done it several times and lost 20+ pounds and she was signing up again so I thought I'd do it with her. It's not by my house, which is definitely a draw-back but I asked my mom if she'd be willing to help me with Sophie so I could get there. The workouts are 1 hour long, 6 days a week, for 4 weeks. The classes are usually 4-6 people so it's pretty nice to have a lot of attention from the owner/trainer of the gym. You obviously don't have to go every day. You can go as much or as little as you want for the four weeks. But you pay a flat fee so it's best to do the workouts.

Monday we did legs. I haven't been able to sit or walk comfortably since. It was my first time and I had to take several puke breaks. An hour doesn't sound long, but we did things like: run at 9mph for 1 minute, climb the latter for 1 minute, squats with weights, lunges with weights, and a leg machine. We did each thing for 1 minute, then had to run to the next station. We did this three times, then we worked on abs. I was exhausted! We had gone to a morning class, so that didn't help. That night I managed to bike with Sophie for 25 minutes. Tuesday we did upper body. I worked, so I went there straight from work. We did push ups, bicep and tricep exercises with weights, sprints, latters (it's a machine from the biggest loser) and all sorts of other weighted and cardio exercises. Today, Wednesday, we did legs again. I didn't know how I even did it because my legs are so sore I can't bend them. We did sprints forwards and backwards on the treadmill, sit ups, latters, lunges, squats on a ball, mountain climbers, and step ups. We did two cycles, 1 minute each with a 25 POUND WEIGHT VEST! I have no idea how I survived it! Wish me luck. I hope to lose 15 pounds in the 4 weeks. I know that is a very very big goal but it could happen (that's about 4lbs a week).

I'll be honest: right now I feel very tired, sore, and hungry. I want something greasy: like a Red Robin burger and fries. I hope it gets better and my body can get adjusted to a better lifestyle!

Happy July!

Apparently I changed my blog address. I was setting up a blog and showing a coworker how to navigate, and so I guess I saved my changes and this is my new blog address!

For some reason I feel like all I'm doing is working. I had to pick up a few extra shifts this month because of maternity leaves and I am just dying! It makes me cherish my days off even more. I wish I just didn't have to work, but let's face reality, I do...

Wednesday when Kale got home from work we went swimming at the North Shore. Sophie loves it there. It happened to be windy though, so the mist/spray from the splash pad was beating us. We stayed about an hour before we went home. Sophie likes the big slide and says weeee the whole time going down with us. They have a great kiddie area there too and Sophie loves being able to walk all around.

Thursday I swam some laps and it felt so good to be able to do that! I forgot how much I really love swimming. That morning we went to the Riverdale splash pad.
It was pretty fun, but as soon as Sophie saw the park swings it was all over. She just wanted to swing. We swang for a while but then I was melting so we left. We ran a ton of errands, which I love being able to do, but hate that it wastes my day. That night I went running with Sophie. She seems to like it if she's in the mood. I give her an otter pop and snuggle her in the stroller and we jog around the neighborhood.

I worked Friday so Sophie was with her Grandma. I came home and we had a movie night: we laid out blankets on the living room floor and popped in Despicable me. Sophie actually laid with us for almost half the movie, then she was bringing us books to read and trying to sit on my head, ha! I had fallen asleep and woke up to her butt smushing my face!

Today we spent the morning making a mess in the living room: Ok, actually it was just Sophie. I can't keep up with her today, she's such a tornado! I made Lasagna and homemade breadsticks for lunch, and tried the cinnamon roll recipe I had great success with on Father's Day. I hate being successful at a recipe because chances are it will never happen again. They weren't too bad this time around though. Mmm!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. The July holidays are my very most favorite holidays of the entire year!

Happy Anniversary

Yesterday was our 3 year anniversary! We had breakfast together, then Kale went to work. I had a surprise planned though! We picked Kale up at his work, and kept him in the dark. He loves surprises and the suspense was killing him! We all met at Kylie's (my sister) Fiance's house and rode together. We went to Airborne, a trampoline jump house. Kale loves things like this, and he was so excited! Despite the little bit of a high price and the fact it was SOOO hot in there, it was a lot of fun. We were all sweating like pigs though, oh my gosh what a workout! They had a huge pit, and that is where we started!

My sister jumping right in.

Kale doing some flips.

Then we went to the section with all the trampolines. We jumped, had races, and bounced all over the place.

My sister is so flexible!

Kale and I! We played dodgeball next, ha! My brother and his fiance lounged around so they didn't play but we were having such a great time! Next we went to Olive Garden smelling like a herd of cattle. Yummy! We drove home, and man was it hard to stay awake. I'm such an old lady. I was so tired! We made it home though.
So glad I am married to such a great guy! I am so lucky. He is a great husband and father. I can't believe it's been three years.

Father's Day Weekend

Happy Father's Day to all those wonderful Father's out there!

Lately I love having days off much more than I love being at work. Don't get me wrong, I love being a nurse and I love my job, but sometimes the politics of it all gets really old. We've made the most of my time off this week! Thursday I met with a friend and we went biking on Legacy Parkway. We were planning on riding the train but missed it because my little sleeping beauty decided today would be her monthly sleep-in day (of course when I'm awake!). We ended up driving to the parking lot and getting there just in time for the train to arrive. We headed out on our ride. Sophie usually loves to bike, but for some reason she was extra grumpilicious and fussed most of the way. We were aiming for that quanit little lake but knew that our butts had throbbed enough and so we stopped at this little shaded bench area and ate some lunch. E is as cute as a button and Sophie liked checking out her ride (bike trailer) and going after her puffs. It is a lot of fun to have playdates, thank you Whit!

Friday Kale had to work but me and Sophie didn't want to miss out any any fun. We spent the morning lounging and after her nap we got ready to head to Lagoon. She was in a particularly good hold-still kind of mood so I snuck in a french braid. It always makes me feel accomplished to do a french braid in a 20 month old's hair!

We have been utilizing frontrunner so much lately. It's such a great alternative to driving (gas $) and takes about the same time to get to our destination. Today though we didn't plan getting ready well so we would have to wait almost 45 minutes for the next frontrunner to depart, so we drove to the frontrunner station in Farmington and waited for the (free) shuttle to Lagoon. Beats paying for parking! We spent a while at Lagoon and had a lot of fun. It's nice because my Beco has a secret little pocket that is meant for a hood but I keep a spare diaper in there so I don't have to pack much of anything besides the items that fit in my pocket! We went on the carousel, the helicopters, the boats (well we attempted it but had waited in lineforever and Sophie threw a fit when we finally got on and I had to take her off before it started), the kontiki, bulgy the whale, and the haunted house (which oddly enough Sophie loved-I'm pretty sure it was her favorite of the day). We had so much fun and I got the cutest little video clip of Sophie saying "wee" over and over on the carousel. It's so cute when she does that! I think everything she does is cute.

The next day we let Kale sleep in a bit (his only day off amidst his 13 days of straight working). Sophie and I had breakfast and got things ready for a hike. We got there around 11 and were so excited to do something different. We were planning on going on Taylor's Canyon because I had ready it was a pretty short, moderate difficulty hike with a well groomed trail that follows a creek. There were lots of trails though that forked and it was kind of confusing but we finally got on the right trail and had a blast! Man I am out of shape. Not only am I 50lbs overweight but I was packing Sophie too, phew! When I thought I would collapse, we stopped and played in the little stream. Sophie loved it... that girl has no fear (but I have fear). She wanted to get right in there. Even though it was pretty chilly she didn't care and was stomping, kicking, and splashing around in it! She was pretty upset when we had to carry on and continue our hike.

It was approaching Sophie's nap time so we cut our hike short and turned off to the Bonneville shoreline trail when the opportunity approached. Here is my attempt at a poorly executed self-timer shot. Aw, what a cute family I have. I am so lucky! The hike was so much fun. It's so exciting to do something new and different as a family. I loved it and can't wait until we find the opportunity to go again.

After Sophie's nap we got ready and headed to Salt Lake. We made it just in time to get on frontrunner and were excited to play at the Discovery Gateway Museum!

I just have to point out Sophie's hair... Man this hair has some personality. The bottom is curly and the top is straight, and it's thick and long. I love it. This picture is after we combed and styled it too... you should see it in the morning.

Sophie seemed especially excited to play today! We went upstairs and played outside with the helicopter first. She was cautious of it this time, and even cried when I sat her in there. She eventually warmed up though after thoroughly checking it out and watching other kids play. We stayed outside for a while and she just walked all over the place checking things out. They had a pretend seatbelt that Sophie loved trying to clip together. There was a picture of a puppy out there too that she just loved! Next we went inside and played with all the toys upstairs. There are magnet blocks, tinker toys, big legos, magnets that spin, puzzles, and lots of fun toys to explore. We stayed up there a while and Sophie's cousins came to play with us too. Later, we went downstairs and played in the beehive area with the balls. Sophie loves it there. She especially like to gather up any stray balls and put them in the big bin, and get balls to throw in the holes that play music. It's always very busy here and it's fun for her to watch other kids play and she does so much exploring. Now that she can walk, it's a lot more fun to be her to do things like this and she is so full of energy and walking around everywhere.

Next, we went in the Kids View play area. Her favorite part is the water and she likes to collect the balls and splash in the water. Luckily they have these little vests to protect you from getting soaking wet! She always seems to spend the most time here. She also really like the barn area. They have stuffed animals: chickens, chicks, and bunnies. She love to hear the noises they make. Today Sophie sat on the horse for a while. She was so cute and kept patting him and loved to be up so high. I can't wait until we can ride my parents horses for real! I hope she loves it.

After we spent a few hours playing (which is a record for us!) we borrowed a cousin's car seat and went to the Spaghetti Factory with everyone. Sophie was so tired - It was about 8pm plus she didn't have a very long nap earlier! Our dinner came and the thing that kept Sophie the busiest and content was dipping a fork into Kale's Coke and then tasting it. It was hilarious! I bet she did that for a half hour! We got settled in on the frontrunner, and before we even made it to woods cross, Sophie was asleep! The announcement that we were in Roy woke her up and unfortunately she cried the short drive home. Poor thing!

Today Kale worked, but we survived church despite the refusal to be in nursery alone. Sophie is asleep now and I'm making a Father's Day Dinner. I love Kale so much. I am so lucky to have such a great husband who is loving, patient, and kind. He is a fabulous father and interacts so well with Sophie. He is the best Dad in the whole wide world.

Also, how can I forget my own sweet dad?! He is a gentle giant and I have so many great memories of fun times together growing up. He is such a hard worker and I know I can count on him. He treats me and my family so well and I love him so so so much.

Happy Father's Day!

June 13

This girl loves getting into the cabinets. Her favorite kitchen items are: boxes of ziploc bags, the kitchen-aid mixer attachments, the spice containers, and bowls! She is so funny. I love her gut too, sometimes she just blows it out and walks around so funny.

Today we had Lola and Owen over to play for the day. They are so sweet, we love having them. Lola just loves Sophie and takes good care of her and Owen. Owen is so well mannered and easy going, and so tall and chubby, we love it!!! Sophie and Owen feed off each other's stress though... Sophie will cry, which makes Owen cry, which in turn makes Sophie cry even louder, then they are both hysterical! I don't know how Sophie will ever be an older sibling too, because anytime I'm trying to hold or cuddle Owen she comes over and wants my full attention or wants to be held. Poor girl! Sophie also sucks at sharing we have learned. Poor Lola...

Oh the drama! Lola is a really good sport. We were going to go to the splash pad today but then it started raining, then the staggered naps of all three of the kiddos, and before we knew it, the day was almost over. Bummer! I love Dari and her sweet family, she is a great friend that I've had for like 6+ years now and I am glad we can keep in touch. It's crazy to think that having a family can kind of separate you from your other friends: my best friend from high school and I talk once or twice a year! Things just get busy and lives and values change. I'm lucky to have the few close friends though that put the effort into remaining friends.

Kale worked the first day at his new job today. He said it went well, but he has an ingrown toenail ... so much for getting good shoes! :( He works tomorrow, but we hope to spend some family time with maybe a trip to Lagoon. We thought about hiking but I'm just not sure what trail would be good to pack a baby up. I need to do some research.

Here is another really funny video of Sophie laughing at her Daddy.

June 9, worst day ever...

I had a really bad day today. No reason to air out my problems on the internet: just know it was a very hard day. Days like this I wonder why I even try to be a good person. But anyway....

We went to Lagoon though, which is always fun. My Sophs just LOVES the rides. She says "Weeee" on all the rides. I love that girl. Today there were hardly any lines, it is definitely a good time to go! Plus we got a little cesears Pizza on the way home, so not having to cook is a positive aspect of my day!

Here is a little video clip of Sophie on the ride saying "weeeee." Man it is the cutest thing!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slAUTiW3suc

This week has seemed so busy. Even though Kale and I had the weekend off, between Lagoon, visiting in Wyoming, working, and yard/house work the time off has gone by way too fast! Kale starts his new job Monday, I am excited for him. He is worried about being on his feet for the entire day, but we got him some good supportive shoes and I hope he'll be able to sit down once in a while. This is hopefully going to be a great job and he'll carry insurance now instead of me. We have a high deductible plan and I hate it! I am so glad we'll be able to change. I totally don't recommend it if you have children. There have a been a couple times I have wanted to go to the doctor for follow up stuff or if Sophie has been sick and feel trapped because I'd have to pay outright. Sophie's Ped referred us to PCMC rehab and of course, the high deductible plan wont cover any of it and they want $400+ just for the first visit! I guess it works good for some. It sounded good in theory. This summer will be busy: with Kale's new job, my brother and sister's weddings, and all the fun things we want to go and do! Busy is good though, and spending time together is wonderful. I work several days in a row. Kale is home with Sophie, which is good.

This post was all over the place. Hope everyone is doing good.

June 4, 2011

Lots has been going on around here! Sophie is getting so big! I can't believe she just turned 20 months old! It's crazy to see what a big girl she is and how much fun it is to see her learn and explore. She is such a blessing, man I love that girl.

Since we're doing a lot of stuff around the yard and around the house, we didn't have the time or money to do a big garden. So here is our garden this year! Three tomato plants. How exciting! Speaking of tomatoes, Sophie LOVES them. I was in Costco and had a big pack and she cried hysterically until I opened them. Did she want the gummy bears, nope. Did she want the free smoothie sample, nope. She was shoveling those cherry tomatoes in like there was no tomorrow. It was way funny! I love them too, but Kale hates them, so I'm glad she likes them :)

Kale has been so busy lately. He hasn't had to mow the lawn ONCE since our new house. Either I have or my mom has mown it. So finally, it worked out that he had the time/energy for it. Sophie had missed him all day, so we threw on Kale's carrier (a Boba) and she LOVED it. She laid on him and just talked his ear off the entire time!

In other news, I have been thinking about cutting my hair lately. It was SO long and getting so hot. It was to the point that it was so long (and it's very thick) my hairstyle choices were down or up in a ponytail or bun. I felt pretty plain. I had been thinking about cutting enough to donate it again to Locks of Love, but I wasn't sure because I love having long hair and last time I cut a lot off (2006) it was kind of traumatic. So I was thinking I'd just cut like 6 inches or so. But, I had an impulse, got a babysitter, and went to the Cosmetology school and just did it! It ended up being almost 12 inches (10 is the minimum). I was thinking it would hit my shoulder blades but it ended up being a bit shorter than I thought. That day I was kinda sad about it, it was so different and I was kinda sad. I found a box of hair dye under my sink so I used it to color it (man I had more grey hairs than I thought). Once I had the time to actually style it, I felt better about it. Anyway, I'm getting used to it and am glad that my hair can benefit some little child out there!

Today we went to Lagoon. We got season passes this year and were glad to go today. Sophie was kinda grumpy to start with. We rode frontrunner and rode the free shuttle over to the park. She was excited, but didn't like waiting in the lines, even though overall they were pretty short today. We rode the carousel, the Puff Roller Coaster, the mini magic carpet ride, the whale (lots and lots of times), the dragon ride, and then we went to Lagoon a Beach. The water was ICE cold but Sophie and I didn't mind. Kale doesn't like cold water though, but he did go down one of those scary slides.

I love having my Beco, it was so nice to not have to pack a huge bag and stroller and stuff, and made my job easier when we were waiting in line. I love that thing.

This weekend we're heading to visit Kale's Grandparents in Wyoming. Hopefully the long ride goes well! Hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far!
