Our Sophie turned 4 years old. I can't believe it. She has really been looking forward to her birthday. She has been telling people "My birthday is in October" and couldn't wait for the big day to come. I half-planned a party... invitations and all, but just couldn't bring myself to send them out because I really haven't been feeling good and I just didn't have it in me this year. We've had some really fun parties for her birthday in the past so I feel really guilty I couldn't do something fun this year. Kale took the day off and we tried to make it a fun day anyway. She got some birthday cards in the mail and thought it was SO COOL. She carried them around all morning and even wanted to take them to preschool to show everyone.
She took some tangled cupcakes to preschool. She was so excited for them! They had a little ring on top that she was wearing all day. Her preschool sang her Happy Birthday and did a 'spotlight' for her... all about Sophie! She really loves preschool. She definitely has her times there that she doesn't want to participate or gets her feelings hurt, but overall she loves to go and see her teachers.
We picked her up early and went to her well child check. I schedule them on her birthday so the fun activities of the day can shadow the immunizations.
She was a little apprehensive at the appointment but liked playing with the toys. We saw a different provider who was super nice and Sophie responded really well to her. Sophie is in the 88% for height and 58% for weight. Then... the "shots" were talked about. There was about a 10 minute wait before the MA came in to give them though, and that was rough because she was really nervous and saying she didn't want them. She did good though and cried for a short time. We got some stickers, a sucker, and a drink on our way out that seemed to make things better.
Next we went to Toys R Us and let her pick out some birthday gifts with the birthday money she got! She picked out a Tangled doll and then another doll set with a dog-washing station. She loves riding the Dumbo elephant here so we made sure to bring in lots of quarters! She rode it about 5 times. She was really excited about the presents she picked out!
We had lunch at Red Robin. She didn't hardly eat though! They even brought her out an ice cream treat for her birthday and she kept saying it looked "misgusting" and didn't want any. What a stinker! This girl knows how to be a drama queen...
We came home and played outside. We blew bubbles (until we spilled the rest) and then Kale and Sophie jumped on the tramp for a while!
We came in and opened up her dog washing doll and she was so excited!
Man, kid's toys are so difficult to open now days! Kale took her to Kangaroo Zoo (the bounce house) and they had a blast. She met a little friend there and they played for a while. On the way home they stopped at the gas station and picked out a treat and got some dinner. I was home wishing I could have gone with my face in a throw-up bowl. Sophie was just so excited when she got home! We opened some presents from Kale and I and one was a Little Mermaid bath toy that floats and squirts. Sophie... the girl who HATES to bath, asked for another bath (her second of the day) and had a blast playing with the mermaid toy!
She got to talk to her cousins, her grandparents, and her aunt and uncle that night. She was watching a show on the iPad so she was quite distracted though. She is really into veggie tales. They are a little odd, but better than some of the other shows out there. She fell asleep quickly... hopefully it was still a fun day for her!
Love you Sophie! You are such a big girl! Happy Birthday.
