Date Weekend!

We had an envelope in the date night mixture that was a whole weekend adventure!  It was so much fun, I am so excited to blog about it.  Kale got off work a little early.  I had everything loaded and ready and we were all ready to go.  I had scoped out some campsites down in Provo Canyon.  We stopped at Subway on the way and the drive went by fast because we were having a great time.  Kylie and her husband, Preston came with us!  Sophie stayed with my Mom.  We went to a few campsite but they were all full.  We found this lonely campsite hidden on a little pullout off the dirt road.  We took it!  The whole campsite was on a slant so placing our tents was hard.  It got dark quickly and getting camp set up was a little rocky to say the least.  We finally made it and were glad to get in our sleeping bags.  Luckily we were full from the subway.  The next morning, I cooked omelets for us.  There were campfire restrictions so I was glad I had a plan B.  You can have a fire but it has to be in one of the true campsite fire-rings.  Luckily I had a single burner propane stove that did the trick!  We ate our omelets and enjoyed the weather!

We threw the football around and enjoyed visiting with each other.  We got ready and headed down to do our next activity: A Zipline Adventure!  Let me tell you a little secret: groupon is a great place to get unique date ideas.  I saw this one come through a few months ago and took advantage of it.  The company was so nice and matched the rate for Kylie and Preston!  They were just going to watch/wait for us, so we were SO GLAD they could come!

It was so much fun.  It was a bunch of zip lines from canopy to canopy.  I am afraid of heights but had fun and didn't get scared at all.  It was awesome!  After our zipline we headed made sandwiches in the car then headed to scope out the river.  We went to BYU to rent some lifejackets, too.  We stopped at the gas station and got more water and used the bathrooms there.  We got some playing cards and then headed back to camp.  We had to get creative to make dinner without fire, but we made it happen and had the BEST hobo dinners, ever!  Wow!  I wish I had one right now!

We played around the campsite and had fun relaxing!

We made us of our football and our long skinny campsite!  It was a lot of fun trying to do tricks and throwing the ball around to each other!  That night was oddly quiet and I was hearing all sorts of noises!  It was kind of scary, all I could think about was a bear coming to get us!

We made it through the night and the next morning we packed up our tents and supplies.  It didn't fit in the car as nicely as when I packed it at home.  My car was a dusty mess, too!  We stopped at some of the scenic sites on our drive down.  It was a dirt road and we were pulling a little trailer full of supplies, so we had to go pretty slow.  It made for a scenic, fun ride down though.  We were blasting our music, singing a long, and eating treats!

It was such a good date weekend!  I love my husband so much!  We are lucky to live in Utah and be surrounded by all these mountains.

We headed up to Deer Creek Reservoir and dropped the tubes, lifejackets, and everyone off to get ready for TUBING!  My mom is awesome and I remember tubing when I was a teenager.  She has these awesome HUGE tractor tubes.  The Provo river is a great river for tubing and is really popular.  We only had one car so I had to brave the hitch-hiking role.  Luckily there is lots of traffic and I have hitchhiked here before when we used to go long boarding.  I got a ride up and we were all ready to go!  I had read/researched tubing the river, but had forgotten the part where it said to start.  We started too high and had to go past a bridge full of rocks and fast-moving water.  My tube was one of the smallest.  Kale and Preston went through ok, but Kylie was nervous (me too) so she stopped and got stuck.  I tried to help her and WENT UNDER and it was close to terrifying.  My legs got all beat up but luckily I made it through the bridge alive and we got back on our tubes and got on with it.  It was fun.  We all had our few little episodes: Kale got high-centered but when he stepped off he was shoulder deep in a fast current.  Kylie went cliff-diving with her tube off a huge rock in the middle of the river.  Kale got sprayed by a sprinkler (picture rattle snack rapids at lagoon).  By the time the two hours was up we were pretty good at tubing, and pretty tired.  We all got some sun.  It was the high-light of our trip and we had SO MUCH fun.  It was such a blast!  Even though we missed our Sophie we had a great date-weekend.

Date Night: Rodeo

Well as you all know, I grew up out in the country, riding horses each night.  I have never really gotten into rodeos but spend most of my time camping/hunting with the horses.  I think that Pioneer Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year because of the fun fireworks and the rodeos and warm weather.  Kale is a city boy, so this is definitely not something he's done a lot of.  We were excited to go to the Rodeo tonight for our Date!

We met at Texas Roadhouse after Kale got off work and had dinner.  The music was way too loud to carry on a conversation but the food was good!  We headed to the rodeo.  We wanted to park somewhere we could make a quick escape when it was over, so we had a bit of a walk.  We got a good spot right in the middle of the arena and the weather was perfect!  The sun was shining on the mountains but not on us, there was a rainbow and some really mild short sprinkling rain.  It was such a great night and we had so much fun!

Date Night: The Blaze

Kale picked the date envelope and was excited to see what it contained!

July 13 we went for our date to a Blaze Game.  We had never been and it was a lot of fun.  We had a babysitter come over and left for Salt Lake.  We were running behind but made it there just a few minutes after the game had started and just in time because it was starting to get windy and rainy outside.  We had great seats - I was all smiles because I have never sat in the Lower Bowl for any games (Jazz) so it was odd to be that close.  I don't follow football at all but had so much fun people watching.  Kale was so cute to explain what was going on and it was really exciting.

We left a bit early because we were both STARVING and were excited to have dinner.  We've been on a strict budget for almost year now so we don't go out to eat often - it makes it a special treat when we do!  We went to Red Robin and pigged out!  I love their burgers and fries.

It was a fun date and I look forward to doing more dates together.  It helps me feel closer to Kale because working full-time and being a parent can really take away from spending quality time together, as we all can relate too, huh!?
