Easter

Saturday I was working but my cousin took Sophie to Home Depot to do the craft and an Easter Egg hunt.  They also played with bubbles in the yard.  I loved seeing all the cute pictures of their day!

Sophie took a little pit stop to say a prayer!  :)

We had a great Easter.  I had to work but was glad to come home and look at our Easter Baskets.  Sophie had a fun day at church and looked so pretty in her new Easter Dress!

The Easter bunny brought some books, a dream light, juice, coloring supplies, playdough, candy, and a scooter!

Sophie was so excited, it was so much fun!

We went right out and tried her scooter.  Her Grandma brought her some Yo Gabba Gabba stuffed animals too.  She liked the scooter but can't quite figure out how to steer it (which is also a problem with the bike).

FHE: The Story of Easter

FHE tonight is all about Easter.  There are some really great video clips.  Here is our lesson:

Song: When He Comes Again
Scripture: John 20:11-17
Lesson:  We are going to tell a story and use the pictures on pg 58-59 in the Gospel Art Book

Point out details in the picture as you tell the story of Jesus Christ’s Resurrection very simply.  The following is an example:
When Jesus died, His friends were very sad (have the children make sad faces). They put Jesus’s body in a tomb, which is like a cave (point to the tomb in the picture). A big stone was rolled in front of the door (have the children pretend to roll a big, heavy stone). After three days (have the children hold up three fingers), two angels rolled the stone away. Jesus had come back to life! (Point to Jesus in the picture.) He was resurrected (help the children say “resurrected”). Jesus’s friends were very happy! He was alive, and He would never die again!
Mary was one of Jesus’s friends (point to Mary in the picture). She was sad when He died. When Jesus was resurrected, Mary was the first person who saw Him. She was very happy because Jesus was alive (have the children make happy faces).
Tell the children that because of Jesus, everyone will be resurrected and live forever. Have the children make happy faces again.
Also a little talk from President Hinckley

Activity: He Sent His Son

Ballet

I found a dance program at a local rec center.  It's just 9 weeks long and they practice once a week so I thought that would be perfect to see if Sophie likes ballet.  It's a lot of fun to watch her.  I {of course} think she is so cute and all the little gals make me laugh!  Sophie loves it and sometimes dances to the beat of her own drum.  She is so cute and really looks forward to it.

Most days go really good.  Sometimes the teacher gives too many instructions for Sophie to follow, but for the most part she tries to imitate what she sees and I think it's adorable.  I think we will definitely look for a more permanent dance class in the Fall.

Some classes don't go so well, and she does get a little bored with the bar:

The many {cute} faces of Sophie!

She is getting so big!  This girl loves to take pictures of herself and make funny faces.  I love it.

Goodbye Grandpa George

My Grandpa passed away late Monday night.  He had fallen at home in the middle of the night early Monday morning.  He called my mom for help and when she went over, he was laying with his legs in the shape of a 4.  He was in so much pain, my mom called the Hospice nurse and they thought it was best to call 911.  He went to McKay and was evaluated and had a fracture in his pelvic bone.  It's a very painful fracture and he was admitted.  It took several different medications to get him comfortable. He was very sleepy and sedated.  I went to visit him Monday morning after a staff meeting and he wouldn't wake up.  My mom asked to hold on giving the morphine to see if he would wake up at all, but when we went to visit as a family that evening he wasn't responsive.  He was breathing very labored and although he wasn't restless, you could tell he was ready to go.  We stayed for several hours at his bedside.  Sophie had treats and was watching some shows.

After we left they realized his IV had infiltrated and he was becoming very restless and my mom said he was miserable.  He still wouldn't wake up but he was having an increase in his labored breathing and was grimacing.  They finally got an IV and gave him a big dose of morphine.  That helped to get him comfortable.  They turned down the oxygen at my mom's request and he started to breath shallow and less and less.  He passed away that night shortly after.  He is in a much better place and he is with my Grandma and all the other relatives.  I know that Heavenly Father has him out on a big Massey Ferguson Tractor in the fields farming.  I know that I can be with him again someday.  We have been telling Sophie that Grandpa is in Heaven with Jesus.  I think she has a limited understanding of what that means.  She was so special to him.  We were over there so often and they just had a unique, special relationship.  He loved her and she would brighten up his entire day.  We will miss Grandpa so much but are trying to realize and understand that he is in a much better place, has his mobility back and is so much happier.

Despite a few dramatic speed-bumps in the family, we were able to clean out his home and prepare for the funeral.  The viewing and graveside services went really well.  What an honor to have the Military there and to have such a spiritual flag ceremony.  We will miss you Grandpa!

Sophie looked so cute for the funeral.  Afterwards our close family got together to hang out and it was fun to spend time together and think about Grandpa and all the great things he taught us and the example he was to us.

Dino Park

Today our friends came to the dino park with us.  It was awesome weather, I even wore shorts!  What a fun time!  Sophie loved having Emery there today and it was fun to talk with my friend, Whit!

What cute girls!

FHE

We had a fun family night tonight!  We watched a Mormon Message video called I am a Child of God and then had a lesson about how Heavenly Father knows us and loves us.  Sophie has done so much better with family night, I was so surprised!!  We did the quick activity at the end for toddlers but it was short lived and she lost interest quickly.  We read a comic and then headed out for some more fun!

For our "activity" we went to Classic Skating afterwards.  First we went skating for a while.  Then they had a few 'races' between boys and girls: with skates, with scooters, and then a sock-race.  Sophie did the sock race and it was hilarious!  Look at this cute video.  It's hard to tell but she is the littlest one third from the Left with a navy outfit and pink socks.  (She's the last one).  We both thought it was so dang cute!

Here are some more pictures.  Sophie loved to skate but they didn't make real skates small enough so she used the little toddler ones that fit over shoes.  We had pizza and pop, then she spent the rest of the time in the bounce-house area and the "Pirate Cove" playground.  It was so much fun and after a few hours it was time to go and she was SO SAD!

On the way home we got a McDonald's Ice cream cone and a gas-station treat.  Lots of fun!

Matching

My talented, thoughtful mom made us these matching outfits.  Aren't they fun!?  It's a little tight on my gut, but I finally got the courage to wear it and didn't pass out from sucking-in the whole three hours  :)
Everyone thought they were so cute (notice even her baby has one).  Thanks Mom, you are so great!

Date Day

It's not very often I have the weekends off!  We actually had a massage schedule today but they called just a few hours before to say they realized they had double booked the massage room and asked us to reschedule (we had a groupon, so I'm sure we were a lower priority).  So instead of the massage part of the date, we decided to go to RC Willey's and pick out a new couch.  Ours is really small, from our starter home, and we have been planning to use our little tax return for it.  It was fun to try them all out and see what cool features they had.  It was hard to choose but we found one we really liked.  We are going to think about it and decide next week.

After our couch trails, we went to Five Guys and had dinner.  We also got a shake at Kirk's Drive in.  This was the activity: "Get the Scoop" with truth and 'would you rather' questions we talked about while we were eating.  It was a fun date!

Dinosaur Park

We went to Sophie's favorite place today!  I was bummed there was still so much snow, especially on the playground, but we still had a blast!  She LOVED it.
