1 Month Old

We are so blessed with this sweet baby.  I can't believe it when I type it out... she is 1 month old already!  She is such a special blessing.  She loves to be held.  All the time.  Usually i don't mind and take advantage of my maternity leave to just sit and hold and rock and kiss and love her!  She has the funniest looks.  She has this frowny face/scowl that she does ALL THE TIME.  It's adorable.

Sophie is such a great big sister.  She is always helping me by bringing me things or putting the baby's pacifier in.  She likes to talk to her about all the fun things they are going to do.  She lays by her and reads to her.  It's really cute and I am so glad Sophie is adjusting to this big life change!

We did pictures with the cousins and they turned out cute.  Emma was a good girl for the pictures.

I like to go for walks with the baby and Sophie.  It's been such nice weather and going for a walk is a way to get out of the house and do something different.  I have a stretchy wrap that I put the baby in and she almost always falls right asleep.  I love to 'baby wear' but never had a stretchy wrap last time.  It was intimidating to use at first but now I really like it.

Sophie is a lucky girl.  I am so blessed to have such great friend and family.  They have really helped me with Sophie by taking her to do things or inviting her over to play.  My mom especially - Sophie loves her and she takes such great care of her when they are together.

Emma is a very good baby.  She has her times, usually in the evening, when she is fussy but overall she is a mellow gal.  She is getting so long and big!  I can't believe it.  She has the cutest little cheeks.  Compared to Sophie, she has NO hair.  We are taking advantage of that by wearing headbands though.  We don't think she looks much like Sophie at all... she has her own unique characteristics.  She is a beautiful baby.  We are so thankful she is here with us!

She is a very good nurser.  She sleeps pretty good.  She naps during the day and goes about 2-3 hours at night.  Some nights go really good, others are hard.  My mom is helpful and comes early in the morning to take her so I can sleep in on her days off.  That little bit of extra sleep makes a huge difference.

Here is that scowl again!  I just love these girls!

Grandma SueAnn is amazing!  Emma loves her.

Once again, I can't even begin to thank everyone that has helped, sent cards or gifts, or calls to check on us.  I am so thankful for all the support from family and friends.  It started in the hospital and we have continued to be blessed!  Happy 1 month old Emma!  We love you so much.

2 week checkup

We had a 2 week check up for Emma.  She is such a big girl!  I went solo this time and Kale stayed home with Sophie.  I had gotten groceries and it took longer so we were a little rushed.  She had a "snack" before we left, and ate a few minutes in the office.  She did great for her appointment and the doctor said she looked great.  She had gained a pound and is up to 8lb 14oz.  She has also grown an inch!  She had to get a heel poke for her PKU testing.  She wasn't happy about that.  We loaded up and headed home.  She usually falls asleep in the car but not today... she cried so loud the whole way home.  It was so hard - I wanted to pull over but always wanted to get home quickly too.  We made it home and let her nurse for a while and she was much happier.  We love her so much!
