37 Weeks

I was 37 weeks yesterday!  I had an appointment and baby Emma is still head down wahoo!  She is HUGE too.  Her cheeks on the US picture look like she's a squirrel saving up for winter.  She looks very chubby.  She was about 7 1/2 pounds already, so we might be looking at a 9+ pound baby!  I'm still holding out for my due date and have no desire to 'go early' despite how uncomfortable I get and how little sleep I get.  I mostly have heartburn and still feel nauseated most nights.  I can't get comfortable and get up to the bathroom about a million times.  I go between the lazy boy chair and the bed.  I have enough heartburn to last me a lifetime.  Plus I'm just so big that I'm sweaty and uncomfortable and ache and throb everywhere.  It's so fun (not!).

Today was the BEST weather.  I got out a short-sleeve shirt for Sophie!  She is such a beautiful girl.  I am so lucky to be her mom.  She's such a cutie pie.  I love her smile.

She loves to get in our new shower.  I have a little "playlist" of songs from some of the movies she really likes and we blast that and she just sings and dances and splashes around in there.  It's quite fun for her and she asks to shower every day!  Kale is such a great hubby.  Today when he got home from work he offered to take her to the park.  I decided I could plop down on a bench so that I'd come too.  We played on the playground and she kicked the ball around.

Sophie is such a great girl, but boy can she get 'emotional' about things quick!  Half-way through our outing she needed a minute to herself and went to sit on the bleachers.  ha.  Love that girl.  We played for a while until it started to get dark then we headed to my Mom's but she wasn't home yet.

My mom got a cute new car for the new baby.  She was worried about car seats fitting comfortably.  It's a Kia Soul and the color is "kale green" which Sophie thinks is so funny.  My mom came over after work and we went for a ride in it together to MAVERICK for Sophie to get a treat.  I'm telling you - that's Sophie's idea of the best day ever!  My mom is so great and she just loves Sophie so much, and Sophie loves her.  I'm so lucky to have a great family!

Remodel update

My mom is such an incredible lady!  She is the do-it-all woman.  She has been working on our shower and it's starting to look so awesome!  We did a pebble floor and have two shower heads in there.  We also have a stereo and speaker IN THE SHOWER.  Kale loves to jam.  We have a bench to sit on too, which is great.  It's a very spacious shower.  We are going to be getting the door soon and then it will be ready to use!

This shower is AWESOME!  I am so excited!

Sophie's Perfect Day

Let me describe Sophie's best day ever:  Wake up and head to McDonalds for her favorite breakfast: 1 pancake, 1 sausage, and a hash brown with apple juice box.  Next stop, somewhere with me.  Today, the park.  She usually likes it when there are little friends over at the park but today it was just us.

To continue her perfect day, we would stop at Maverick.  This is seriously her FAVORITE thing.  In the morning on my days off, I always ask her "what activity should we do today?" and she always says go to Maverick.  She likes to pick a bag of chips, a popsicle, and sometimes a candy or ice cream.  I should take stock out in Maverick and McDonalds apparently since all my extra spending budget goes to that.  She is a picky eater so we are fully supportive of it though.  The "perfect day" would end with hanging out at home watching movies (she is a homebody) and getting a visit from Grandma.  She always asks for Pizza for dinner so that would round out the day.

Today we happened to visit three parks.  There are quite a few parks out in our area so we spent a few minutes at each one, by her request.  I love her!

Our Favorite: The Dinosaur Park!

Whit and I took the little ones to the dinosaur park today.  This has been a favorite destination for these two!  They were much less interested in seeing the dinosaurs today thought and wanted to beeline for the park and playground.  We made a quick loop around to look at some of our favorite friends.

It was a pretty good day considering it's mid March!

The playground was a big hit.  We couldn't sit still for long and it seems as though the girls wanted to do different things at different times so I saw Whit more from afar.  We brought some quarters to feed the ducks and fish, which was really fun.  We played for almost 2 hours which was a great visit!

Thanks for coming Whit and E!  Love you gals!

Walking

I am 35 weeks today.  I have put on A LOT of weight this pregnancy.  It was slow at first when I was sick, but my second trimester it went out the window and I gained A LOT.  I hate it.  I know that's why my hips are so sore, and my legs and feet ache and throb - especially when I have to work.  In an effort to not gain a ton more I have been trying to walk more.  Sophie loves it… except now she doesn't want to walk in the stroller - she wants to actually walk.  So… basically it slows me down quite a bit and is more of a leisurely stroll instead of walking for a workout.  Oh well, she's adorable and loves being outside.

I had my midwife appointment last week.  Emma has turned.  She was transverse for a few weeks and I was getting so worried.  I was trying all sorts of funny things I read online to turn her (ice packs to my belly, balancing in funny positions, etc).  Who knows if that's what helped or not, but now she is head down.  PHEW!  She is measuring a few days bigger but other than that, all is going well.

PS Sophie is my stuffed animal hoarder!  I know I've talked about that before but she just loves these little stuffed animals.  If we ever let her pick a surprise or reward her, she just wants one of these little guys.  We are unfortunately up to like 15 of them!  Oh my…

Recovery

Sophie has had a pretty awesome recovery.  We added in some ibuprofen and that has really helped her throat.  She wanted to play outside today so we spent a little time out there.  She "wore" her new animals and rode her scooter for a bit.  Last week we really tired to just take it easy but did go for some walks in the stroller.  I'm glad it was nice weather today!

Usually days 4-5 can be a little rough and I noticed her throat has been more sore.  We have been giving her medicine in the night to help so she doesn't wake up so sore.  We have been loving all these popsicles!
