Hiking

In the past, I used my carrier to hike with Sophie, but she is definitely too big to pack up the mountain now!  We choose a hike she could do.  We had fun, even though we were a little slower than normal.  She wanted to pick all the pretty flowers (aka weeds) she could find.

Swim Meet

As some of you may know, I joined a swim team at the beginning of June.  It's a competition team that swims during the summer, so there is mostly high school swimmers on it.  It's been a lot of fun and I have LOVED burning calories doing something I really enjoy!  Plus, my legs don't ache like when I run.

We were running late and the pool was much further West than we thought.  Plus, Sophie was grumpy and ended up falling asleep on the way.  I know I was anxious and since we were running late I was pretty nervous!

We made it there and I had plenty of time to warm up, which was nice.  Sophie sat with Kale in the stands and she did such a great job!  I couldn't believe how long it was overall since It went by fast for me.  Sophie was so patient.  I was event #7 and event #15.

Event #7 was the 100 backstroke.  This has always been my favorite race and I like the backstroke a lot.  It went pretty good.  I haven't done a start for a while, and I miscounted on a flip turn and had to try to make up for that.  Other than that I was really glad I got to swim this one!  I had a lot of fun and only added about 12 seconds (which is actually a lot) from my high school average.  I am in Lane 4 there... in the middle.

Event #15 was the 200 yard freestyle.  I don't know WHY I signed up for this one and I instantly regretted it after turning my info in.  It's such a long race to go fast and I ran out of gas for sure!  I was in the second heat and glad to be finished.  I am in this second lane... here is my flip-turn...

My time was better than I thought but I felt really tired the last half of the race.  I survived it though, and that's what counts!  :)

Swimming is such a great sport.  I am a big advocate for it.  I can't wait until Sophie is old enough to join a team.

Anniversary

Kale and I have been married, 5 years, can you believe that?  It's gone by fast.  Sunday was our anniversary but we celebrated it today.  We did a date envelope and it was a lot of fun.  We went to an indoor shooting range and rented equipment to shoot.  It was so scary to shoot such a loud, powerful gun.  I'll stick to my hunting rifles thanks very much...

Super fun and I like my rights to bear arms so it's always worth supporting!  I love Kale and am so glad we have been married 5 whole years now.  He is such a great hubby and a great dad!

Raptors Baseball

We were going to go to the game last night for a date but I have been sick with a GI bug this weekend so we didn't go.  I have spent a lot of time laying around and am finally starting to feel better.  Tonight we went to the game.  We only stayed for a few innings but it was still fun to get out of the house.  I was glad to get back home and lay down.

Boating

My dad bought a boat recently.  We were excited to go out on it the first time.  We didn't stay out long, just an hour or two... it was just a mini-maiden voyage.  It was pretty fun though and I can't wait to go out more!

Sophie didn't love it.  My mom found this adorable (real) fishing pole at the DI for $1 and so we took that with us so she could pretend to fish.

Kale and I rode on the tube for a bit.  Tubing isn't my favorite thing because I hate getting bucked off and so it's kind of boring.

I also did some wake boarding but it made my arms and back muscles SO TIRED after about 3 times.  We swam a bit then headed back in.

Sophie still didn't love it...

I got my finger smashed helping get the boat on the trailer - OUCH!  I thought that wake boarding really took it out of me but that night I started getting sick.  I would much rather have a cold or something instead of a GI bug.  I didn't feel great all day but thought it was just because I worked last night and have been out in the sun all day.  Boy was I wrong... it was MUCH MORE than that.

Cousins

We had a busy week.  We had the cousins come up to hang out.  Kale got them on Sunday while I was at work and they stayed through Thursday.  We did lots of fun things.  A LOT!

Monday we went swimming at North Shore.  It was fun and awesome weather.  The girls loved it!

Monday night, after a lot of work, we got enough bikes rounded up for everyone and rode around the pond/lake on the Parkway.  It was pretty fun except Eva doesn't have a lot of experience on the bike, so despite having training wheels she took a few tumbles and the ride took longer than expected.  We went around again with Eva on Sophie's ride-behind bike and that was much more enjoyable for her!

Tuesday we went to the movies and ate lots of yummy popcorn.

After the movie we got lunch and then went bowling!

Sophie liked doing it all by herself and didn't even drop the 8 pound bowling ball on her toe!  ;)

After bowling we went to the trampoline park.  They all love it there and ask to go every time they visit.  I was glad we could go this time!

The favorite is definitely the foam pit.  Sophie did get stuck in there often and I'd have to try to pull her out though.

After the trampolines we went and got haircuts.  This is Sophie's FIRST real haircut (at 3 1/2 years old)!  She held so still and did a great job.  I was surprised at how well it went!

The girls hair all looked so shiny and beautiful!

Wednesday we went to to Sophie's Summer Camp and played at the park after.  We couldn't stay long since I had to work and we had a babysitter coming over though.

Wednesday night Kale took them to the bounce house - the Kangaroo Zoo and they were there almost 2 hours.  Phew, I wish I had their energy!

Thursday we went to LAGOON!  It was a busy morning getting three and a half ready but we finally made it and had a blast there.

Sophie loves being with her cousins!

Uncle Fig came so we had one adult for one kid and it worked out perfectly to pair up on the rides!

Bom Bora is Sophie's favorite and she picked to ride with Fig so Lex went with Kale.  Lex was such a good sport.  Being the oldest she didn't get to "pick" very many things but she was still always helpful and happy.  She is a good girl!

The girls loved it and we had a lot of fun this week.  It was so nice to have them come up and spend time with us.

Summer Camp

We signed Sophie up for a Sports Summer Camp in North Ogden.  It's for ages 3-5 which is perfect!  We were really excited to have the opportunity to do something fun.  The girls who run the camp are awesome too and I have been MORE than impressed.  They are young, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but they do a fabulous job and are very mindful of all the kids.  They remember everyone's name and do such a good job with the little ones.  I would recommend the North Ogden Summer Programs to anyone and everyone as it has been so much fun.  Thank you to the sweet girls who take such good care of the kids and have so much patience teaching them.  The camp focuses on introducing the kiddos to different sports.  It's 4 days in a 2 week period, and hour each time.  It's super duper fun.

Monday we learned about soccer and golfing.

Wednesday we learned about football and tennis.

We can't wait to see what we'll learn next week.  It think Sophie is secretly looking forward to basketball an baseball -- especially since she held her golf club and tennis racket just like a baseball bat!

Father's Day

Being a nurse is fantastic and I can create a schedule that works out great for my family.  It does become a little bit of a bummer when I work opposite Kale (weekends).  He always does such fun things with Sophie though!  Sophie loves hanging out with her Grandma too.  My mom watches her 1 and sometimes 2 days a week and she really looks forward to that.  Sometimes she'll ask me to go to work so she can go to Grandma's :)

We found a snake while my Mom was helping me with my sprinklers.  It was pretty cool and the first one Sophie has held this summer!

Kale took Sophs to the Kangaroo Zoo while I was working Saturday.  She had lots of fun and was super friendly.  Here she is just hugging a dinosaur...

I love my little family so much!  Kale is so great and Sophs and I were so excited to tell him for Father's Day.  She picked out a basketball for him and I got him some treats.  He is such a great hubby and Dad, we are lucky to have him!

Makeup

Sophie cracks me up!  We had to run some errands and when Sophie is good I always let her get a little surprise.  Today we found a little make-up set.  She see's me put my (minimal amounts) of make up on and is always very interested so she was excited to pick the makeup set.  She loved trying it out on herself (and on her Dad) and was in front of the mirror for almost an hour.

She tried out all the colors and had a blast.  How funny is this!

Thank you to Ross Dress for Less for making my $3 turn into some of the best entertainment ever!

Lagoon

Sophie and I went to Lagoon today.  We went right when it opened and it was awesome because we seriously didn't wait in any lines for over and hour.  What a great time to go!  The weather was perfect and we stayed for a couple hours and had a blast!

Look at the park... it's dead!  No one in sight!

This girl loves Lagoon!

Tried the Roll-O-Plane which made me want to hurl and reminded me how fat I was when I could barely fit in that teeny thing...

LadyBug Bop

We love season passes and will definitely get our money out of them.

Date Night

For our date we did an arcade date night!  I had a little maze that Kale had to complete to tell him where we were going.  We had Dinner at the Olive Garden then spent some Money at nickel cade!  It was fun and different and we loved it!

Birthday Party

We went to a birthday party today and it was so much fun!  Sophie was so cute and very excited to go.

They had a circus theme and it was so much fun.  We did lots of little games like bean bag toss and bowling.  We got fun surprises at each station, then we got together and played bigger games like follow the leader and duck duck goose!

Sophie loved wearing her clown nose!

And of course the yummy cupcakes!

North Shore

Today we went to the North Shore.  We went when they opened so it wasn't too busy.  We were glad to have our little pop up tent to take a break from the hot sun.

Sophie loved the froggy slide and being in the water!  It was fun.

Bird Nest

We spent lots of time outside today.  I love the warmer weather!

Funny faces!

We found a little birds nest and a (broken) egg.  Sophie thought it was so cool!  She loved looking at the nest seeing how it was made and talking to the little egg.

We have been going to the summer movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and they are a lot of fun!  Sophie loves popcorn, it is probably one of her favorite treats.  I spent more on the popcorn than the actual movie ;)  We saw Hotel Transylvania yesterday with our friends Whitney and Emery, and we saw the Lorax today with Grandma.
