Avocados

I worked all weekend and I'm pooped. Plus today I learned some sad news about a patient I had really bonded to over the weekend and I've been emotional about it. So I'm just tired and laying around. I did do a quick pickup, vacuum, and do laundry when I woke up, but now I can't wait to go back to bed! Sheen and I are going to hang out tomorrow and hopefully do something fun like go hiking or swimming.

We're going on a trip to Cali next week, I can't wait! I know Sophie is going to do awesome on the plane and it will be so much fun! Our anniversary is in June too, so we booked a themed room (Romeo and Juliet) and a place in Sandy. It's going to be a fun start to summer. I just can't wait until the outdoor pools open.

"Let me do it myself, Mom!"

Tried some Avocados with breast milk from our bountiful basket. Sophie loved them! (I am SO GLAD I can breastfeed my bebe and I've had a good supply and not had to give her formula. What a blessing it is... )

Helpin me take out curlers
Ha, I love being able to curl her hair...
Sophs chillin in Mom's bed like a big girl, watchin her show
Another pair of babylegs I made her. Sophie is getting braver. She lets go of things and tries to balance

Delete Button

Well let me just tell you I am absolutely sick about deleting some pictures... They were on my SD card and I *THOUGHT* I moved them over to my computer folder, so I deleted them off my memory card. I went today to post them and they were gone. I am so sad. I have two or three uploaded to photobucket and facebook, but overall a huge chunk are gone and I am so sad about it! As you all know I love taking pictures :) and they mean a lot to me. Darn.

We got new carpet last week. We went with a medium priced one. It is a dream! Oh my gosh, my feet have never been on anything softer and more plush. Seriously, I may just start sleeping in the living room on the floor. It's similar in color but so much better quality than what was in here when we bought the house. We only had the money to do the living room (carpet is expensive!), so the bedrooms still have the other carpet and it's a night and day difference. We love it. Thanks Mom for helping us get it!
I have this recent fascination with Cops. I have always watched it when I was bored, but lately I feel like I have more time on my hands. There is only so much I can clean, vacuum, fold, mow, and cook. Surfing the Internet is fun for a while but it gets boring too. (Don't get me wrong, I love being 'bored' versus working) None of my regular shows have been on, so I've DVR'd Cops. I about pee my pants laughing at it, especially when people get tazed and the fat Cops are panting after running. And the prostitution ones... aack! That is so NASTY! Ew!

Kale and I escaped to the temple yesterday... it's the first time we've done a session since Sophie was born! It was nice to do that. I love spending time with Kale. Life gets so busy and we both work such weird schedules, it's just nice to spend time together!

As you all may have noticed, I'm large and in charge! Sometimes I see myself in pictures and think wow... I'm chubbier than I thought. In all honesty, food tastes better than being thin feels! But, it's getting a little out of hand. I realistically need to lose 50 pounds to be within a normal BMI range. I'd settle for 30 though, and that's my goal. I've been jogging down the street with the baby in my ($15 dollar DI find) jogging stroller. I've also been doing the 30-day shred workout video.... OH.MY.GOSH! Can we say so sore I can barely sit!? I only have been doing it off and on for a week or two, but I figure something is better than nothing!

One of my new years resolutions would be to cook at home more. I completely rely on ourbestbites.com and 365crockpot.blogspot.com for my recipes. I've tried several, and we like most. This recipe is from my mom's friend Jane... we had it at my baby shower and I remember it was so dang good but I only got a bite by the time I actually could eat. Overall it was easier than I thought and it went well. It was good except I definitely messed up on the rice sticks because they were nasty!

I have an expensive addiction: Babywearing. For a while I was quite content with my Beco, but sometimes I see really good deals on the used babywearing site or just around different sites online, and I have to buy them. This is my Ergo, I got new from babysteals. It's similar but different from my Beco. I'm trying it out to see which one I like better, but so far my Beco is still my go too. Today I got another Beco in the mail. I am going to decide which color I like. I also have a babyhawk Mei Tai coming... oh my gosh it was such a good deal, I can't wait to get it and see if I love it or not! I think one day I'll have a post with my opinions/just dedicated to babywearing... better yet...there is one ***HERE***

Sophie has done so much better with food after talking with my new Ped. Basically it comes down to she just doesn't like babyfood, and she LOVES to self-feed. After the reassurance that it is ok to delay solids, I am much less worried/stressed about it. I volunteered at IHC's tent for the marathon and I wore Sophie the entire time in my Beco. She did so good! We took a break mid-way through to breastfeed her (can I just tell you breastfeeding is wonderful! I didn't have to pack anything but a spare diaper for 7 hours). Ky came to help too. On our way out we got a free smoothie and I let Sophie have a taste and she loved it! She also loves watermelon, potatoes and carbs like rolls, crackers, bread, and bananas. She loves drinking from my water bottles too. We've pretty much skipped past sippy trainer cups straight to smart water bottles.

We're still doing cloth and loving it. It just makes so much sense! I've moved from using solely prefolds to mostly all-in-ones and fitteds. When she was smaller she didn't fit into them well and they were really bulky, but now they fit great and are so easy (she's a wiggle bug when it comes to diaper changes!)
Look at that muffin top!
(Sorry blue was on sale...)

Watermelon

Sophie is doing so much better with food since we had our appointment and have tried my new ped's suggestions. She LOVES watermelon...

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day Everyone!

I threw Kale a surprise party on Friday. It was fun! He loves batman so I got him batman party decorations, a batman cake, and I even found batman wrapping paper! Sadly, Kale was the first person to arrive to his surprise party. I was pretty sad. His friends all came from far distances though, and traffic isn't predictable... It was still way fun. Everyone played out in the yard for a while, and we BBQed hamburgers and hotdogs. Then we had cake and visisted.

Friday Sophie stayed up later than she normally does since everyone was over for the party. That night about midnight she woke up crying and I couldn't get her back to sleep. I could tell she didn't feel good. I nursed her and even rocked her to sleep but as soon as I'd lay her down she'd wake up and wouldn't stop crying. So I just bear-hugged her all night in my bed. If my arms would loosen and she'd kinda fall away from me, she'd wake up. Poor baby!
Saturday, I surprised Kale with season lagoon passes! He loves lagoon. I wore the baby most of the time. She's been really fussy since Friday. Her tooth nub (found it Tuesday morning) is through her gums and it's razor sharp. She has had low grade fevers and has been miserable all weekend. Also, she also must be having some seperation anxiety because she only wants me to hold her. I've been so thankful for my Beco carrier, it saves my arm muscles and lets me get things done around the house.
Kale and I went on the swings together and my sister held the baby. She laughed the whole time as she was watching them. Everytime we'd swing around I'd see her cracking up!
I love that the weather has been better! It's so fun to do things outside. I can't wait until outdoor pools are open. Kale had this whole weekend off (hence all the fun things we were able to do). It's been so nice to hang out with him. He's the best Dad and husband. I have to work tonight. I hate to leave my Sophie! Oh well, at least I can work and other mom's with more/older kids can be off.

Happy Birthday Kale

Happy Birthday Kale! He worked all day (and said his work-day was one of his worst ever) and came home to an empty house (I had to do a presentation thing at enrichement night). But I came home and grilled him some awesome filet mingnon's from Costco, and we opened presents. Then I had to run back to enrichment night to pick up my stuff, came home to a hungry screaming baby who I promptly tended too, then my mom came over and we all sung Happy Birthday and opened a few more presents. I wish I could have been able to spend more time tonight with him, but I have a few things up my sleeve this weekend :) (we both have Saturday off)

haha our family photo... equiped with lazy dog and all!
Loved the wrapping paper
Got it taken away after she tried to eat it and was almost successful...

Big Girl Potatoes

I worked all weekend. It was a nice weekend at work. Definitely a change from the busy winter season. My friend and I had a waffle party at work yesterday! It was so fun!

We switched pediatricians. I was seeing one that I didn't really know well before I went to him and after several appointments I just really didn't mesh. We were planning on getting insurance next year through Kale and the insurance his hospital carries doesn't have a lot of provider options. But basically, I just wasn't happy so we switched to the ped I originally wanted to go to anyway and I'll just have to carry insurance next year (and pay more ugh) but it's worth it in my opinion! She was great with Sophie and addressed my concerns.

My concerns: Sophie hates being on her tummy. I don't just mean she cries and fusses about it... she screams bloody murder and sometimes she gets so upset she'll puke. Therefore: I haven't pushed the issue and she doesn't spend any time on her tummy (not rolling over, can't crawl in the upcoming months, etc). She said Sophie's upper body strength is not near what her legs are... and just said we have to do tummy time three times a day for 60-90 seconds each time and slowly build. We're going to try it. She tolerates it OK I guess.

Concern #2. Sophie won't eat... anything. She nurses great, and takes a bottle awesome... just doesn't eat (self fed or fed by me). She used to do a few bites of rice cereal and she was getting pretty good at her sippy cup. Now she won't take anything by mouth. We've been trying to do solids for a month and a half now and she's gotten worse. My previous ped told me that she needs to be eating by 6 months because it affects her speech development. The new ped said that's not correct and not to stress. She said because she's not eating we just need to give her a vitamin drop to make up for it. She said a lot of people delay solids and babies do just fine. She recommended letting Sophie have bites of what we eat. She said in the olden-days it was always known to hold things like milk, eggs, nuts, strawberries, wheat, and high -allergy foods. She said now they're doing studies that show breastfed babies w/o family history of allergies are actually safe to have small amounts of those things because of the good stuff in breastmilk! I learned something new. I have always been uptight about following the 'rules' but now I'm a bit more lenient. The doc said as long as it is single ingredient foods introduce a few days away from each other it's ok to try. We've been doing some teething biscuits. She LOVES mum-mums.

Well that brings us to our night tonight... we went to Texas Roadhouse for Kale's birthday dinner. She was fussy when we got there so I let her gnaw on a roll. Not the best idea... She got a big piece and tried to swallow it and I had to finger-sweep her mouth. She was so mad when I took it away though! So we ordered her a side of mashed potatoes. She was so funny. She loved them, and didn't even turn her nose up to them. She had several bites, then she just wanted to play. I put a big dollop on a plate and she was just smooshing them around and had them everywhere... on me, the table, and her (hair, face, clothes). I think she'll just be a baby that wants to go right to table food ("Forget babyfood Mom!")

Kale's birthday is tomorrow. He works, and I have an enrichment night that evening I need to attend. So we're going to celebrate Fri/Sat. I have a surprise planned for Saturday. I think the suspense is killing him :)
