Tonsils

Ever since starting preschool Sophie has attracted a lot of illness.  When we were at the dentist this month he commented on how huge her tonsils were.  She has always been a snore-er and kind of a restless sleeper.  I never thought about it all together and we decided to see the ENT.  We saw them Monday and they thought it would be a good idea to get her tonsils out.  When we met with the scheduler, they said they had time Wednesday (2 days away).  I said what the heck - let's do it!

We went to the surgical center than morning and got ready.  We had great nurses take care of us and the anesthesiologist seemed very experienced.  Sophie started to get a little nervous when she realized we were going to leave her and was kind of clinging to my Mom.  We were worried she would cry but she hopped in the wagon and away she rode.  I pictured it going downhill from there but the nurse said she did really good, and hopped up on the table.  The only thing Sophie talked about was the "stinky mask" she had to smell.  She refuses to believe she fell asleep haha.  We had to wait for her.  It was SO HARD for my mom.  I think she was more nervous than I was.

Sophie went to phase 1 for recovery and they don't let us back there quite yet but my mom kept saying she heard her cry and was going back in 5 minutes wether they were ready or not!  I kept her busy until it was time and we got to go back and hold her.  She was pretty out of it and kind of cried but then went back to sleep.

My mom hung out for a while then went to get donuts and breakfast for me.  Sophie mostly just slept.  Then she kind of woke up and was totally fine and ready to party.  She was downing popsicles and a donut (much to the nurse's dismay).

Kale came over to visit from work for a bit before we left.  Pretty soon it was time to get her IV out and home we went!  We were so blessed by our nice neighbors and friends that came to visit, bring popsicles, and who called or texted about Sophie.  Thank you everyone.

Dentist

Sophie went to the dentist for the first time today.  She did so good!  We chose a pediatric dentist so the office was very fun.  She loved the fish tank.  She got X-rays and a cleaning.

I could tell she was a little nervous at first but did awesome.  The dentist came to see her teeth.  They counted them, then "painted" them with fluoride.  They sent us with some fun flossers and a new patient bag full of goodies.  Sophie talks about going back to the dentist all the time.  I keep trying to tell her we only go a couple times each year.

Lex

Lex came up for a sleepover this weekend.  She was sick though!  Poor gal.  Sophie loved it still the same.  We did some crafts and hung out.  Sophie wanted to sleep on the floor like Lex did!  Unfortunately even after Lex left she wanted to sleep on the floor, ha.

Lex is a very good helper an very patient with Sophie.  We love having her come visit.  Grandpa is a lot of fun too.  The girls love to get together and get all wound up.  Our living room is the perfect race track to race strollers and chase each other.  Here they tried to smoosh Kale in a big dog pile...

Sophie was sad to see everyone go.  We hope Lex gets feeling better.

Sleepover at Ky's

Ky and Preston came over for a Valentine's dinner.  I had worked all day and was exhausted but we threw together some chicken parmesan and pigged out.  I was teasing Ky and said Sophie was going to come sleepover at her house and before we knew it Sophie had a bag packed and was waiting at the door.  I was dying laughing and kept waiting for Ky to turn down the "offer" but she didn't and out the door Sophie went!  I was all worried about how Sophie would do and kept texting Ky for Q15 minute updates.  Ha!  Sophie loved it and apparently had a blast.  Thanks Ky and Preston for taking good care of her!

Eva

We had our cousin, Eva come over for a sleepover.  Sophie LOVES her cousins.  She always looks forward to seeing them.

We thought it would be fun to invite them up separately for a sleepover this month.  First was Eva's turn.  She came up and we all went to dinner.  Then we came back home and Sophie and Eva played and watched shows.  Eva slept on the floor so Sophie wanted to also!  So silly.

Sunday we went to church.  Apparently Sophie had a breakdown and didn't want to go to her class but instead wanted to stay with Eva so she went to her class.  I had to work and so Kale was home with the girls and they were watching TV and hanging out.

I made dinner and the rest of the family came up.  Sophie got SO SAD when it was time for everyone to go!

Baby Emma!

Blogging is my modern-day journaling, and that happens to be a 'new year's goal of mine' to continue to journal.  I used to have so much more time to blog.  I keep a special private blog just for Sophie and hope to print it out.  I need to start one for the new baby!  Plus maintaining the family blog… it's lots of work but so worth it.

We are looking forward to baby Emma coming soon!!  Only *67* more days to go (give or take).  I have had the energy lately to start getting ready.  We set up the crib recently and I have been going through all of Sophie's stuff that we have been storing.  We did make a small registry to keep track of what we still need/don't have.

Sophie seems really excited and likes to talk about all the things she is going to do with her sister.  Today she told me she wants to take Emma camping.  She also wants to teach her how to talk and walk.  She was crying last night saying she "misses" Emma so much.  She is such a fun kid.  She loves preschool and always looks forward to playing with other kids her age.  She has turned out to be quite the social butterfly.

Kale is such a hard worker.  He is currently helping with the church basketball games two nights a week.

I am just plugging along.  I am still working full time and it makes me very tired and my legs sure ache after my shifts.  My belly doesn't seem very big, but I have gained more weight with this pregnancy.  I can feel the baby kick a lot more lately and am looking forward to her coming in April.

Superbowl

We invited Kale's family over for a Superbowl get together.  After church, we made lots of treats and got dinner ready.  Sophie was my little helper!  She is such a big girl and loves to be independent.

Go Broncos!
