New Car

Today we got a new car. I've never had a new car before, so it was even more exciting! Thank you to John Watson for giving us such a great deal!

It's a 2011 Chevy Equinox. It only had like 4 miles on it! It is so roomy, has awesome gas mileage, and has so many cool features like a back-up camera and and you can control the iPod through the radio. We are excited about it! I'm sure we'll be much less excited when we start making a few car payments, ha!

Chief

Sophie is such a big girl! I love the warm weather we had today.

We went for a wagon ride in the neighborhood.

She thought it was pretty cool to go in and out the back door.

Chief has been such a great dog for us, but ever since our recent move it has been difficult. There are several really large, aggressive dogs in the neighborhood that just run free all day. I've called animal control a bunch of times but they aren't able to catch them and have left warnings for the neighbors, but nothing has changed. Chief doesn't get along well with other dogs when they are threatening/barking/growling so we have just kept him in and I've been terrified to even take him for a walk. One dog is 150lbs (Animal controlled couldn't lift him into his truck). Because of this, we are taking him to a new home tomorrow. I am really sad, I have been tearful all day. We have had him for almost four years. He is the best dog we could ask for, and I know he'll be loved. I am relieved because it's been causing me all sorts of stress lately. Luckily I work all weekend so it will keep my mind off things.

Happy Easter

For some reason I couldn't fall asleep, so it was about 330am before I did. Sadly, we slept in and missed church! I was looking forward to Kale and I being able to go together.

This was Sophie's Easter basket: tub toys, Tangled, marshmallow treats, doll, doll carrier, and gel window clings!

We laid around in our bed for most of the morning. Sophie took it upon herself to eat her Daddy's marshmallow treat, ha!

Love this girl! We loved having a lazy morning!

After Sophie's nap, Kale's parents and his brother's family came up. We had an Easter Egg hunt in our yard! It was a lot of fun!

Sophie rode in the wagon and started into her candy before the hunt was over!

Then we all played on the trampoline! Here is Sophie and her cousin, Eva.

Sophie and Alexa

Getting bounced (and loving it). Man, our daughter loves the trampoline.

Grandpa, cousins's, and Dad. It is so challenging to get everyone to look and smile at the same time!

I love Sophie's sweet smile! We are so lucky to be blessed with such a special girl!

Hope everyone had a great Easter!

Futsol

Let's talk about Futsol.

#1. Sorry guys, but what a dumb sport. I have never been a fan of soccer, so naturally I am not a fan of Futsol.

#2. My new ward called and invited me to a futsol game tonight. I had never played but knew I probably wouldn't like it, but wanted to take the opportunity to meet some people from my new ward so I went. When I walked in, I only recognized 5 smiling faces - my old ward! Immediately I felt torn. I hadn't told my old ward that I was moving my records to my new ward. I know we've been in our Plain City house now for 7 months, but the Farr West ward was my favorite ward of all time, and we were so happy there and were just starting to get comfortable with everyone. I love the members of that ward and have been reluctant to move. I have made many friends and looked forward to seeing everyone on the Sunday's I wasn't working. I figured though that it was time, especially since we've been given counsel to attend the correct ward by our leaders, to make the official move. I requested to have my records moved just last night.

Back to Futsol. So I stood on the sidelines hoping I could just sneak out. Nope. My old FW ward called for me to put on a jersey to play. I was in an awkward situation, but jumped in and played (hey my records aren't moved over yet, right?!). I played the long, drawn out 'sport' of Futsol. When the game was over, my new ward approached me to ask what the deal was. I was caught in the middle of an emotional situation, and had to briefly explain about my recent move and say goodbyes to my old ward teammates. I am sad, and wish I could just stay in that ward. Who would have thought something like this would be so upsetting, but how can you be upset when it's the right thing to do?

New Bedroom Set

Today I got a new bedroom set and I absolutely love it! It is repurposed wood. I love the distressed antique look and the box drawers. These things are so heavy. My mom is paying part, and I am selling a few things in the classifieds to fund the other part. Thanks Mom!

Anyone who knows me well knows that I LOVE antique stuff. I have collected things here and there for my house. This is just so cool, I love it so much!

April Update

We have loved the bike I got for my birthday. We have all been taking lots of bike rides!

Last time we went to West Jordan to visit the In-laws, we hung out at the park and Sophie LOVED to swing with us! She was so calm, I thought she was going to fall asleep. I love that girl!

We have been doing a TON of spring cleaning lately. I cleaned out the storage shed, all the closets, re-arranged the bedrooms, went through all the drawers and closets, kitchen cupboards, and bathroom drawers. What a nice feeling to have everything organized. We also painted Sophie's room (we've only had the paint for like 6 months, haha). It's purple, and I LOVE it. I found some cute decorations at Hobby Lobby so it was fun to kind of re-decorate things. Today, as I was going through Sophie's clothes and boxing up the small stuff, she decided she was going to be my little helper. She is so funny!

We had Sophie's 18-month appointment Wednesday. She was 33 1/2 inches (85% percentile) and 22lbs. That is the same weight she's been for 6 months, so her doctor, whom I absolutely love and respect, wants us to fatten her up. She dropped from 80% to 19% :( She is such a picky eater anyway, and with all her walking and moving, I think she's just lean. We got lots of fattening stuff though, and I got a ton of great tips from my babyboard about how to hide calories. I think part of it is that she's had (TMI) diarrhea for almost 3 weeks now and hasn't wanted to eat much. I can't figure out what's causing it, if it's just a gastrovirus or something she's eating. Today though, she had a 'normal' poo, I was so glad. Oh the joys of motherhood.

We have been going to the new ward, and it has been good. We tried going to nursery, and Sophie seemed to enjoy playing, but as soon as I tried to sneak out she cried and cried. I could hear her from the relief society room, so I went back and she wasn't as trusting. So I just take her to RS for now. She is such a big girl, I can't believe how tall she is. She is so smart, it's so fun to be with her. I feel really burnt out from working so much lately, I just want to enjoy my time off with my baby. I can't wait for warmer weather... the warmth that we have we take advantage of! We love to be outside: wether it's bike riding, jumping on the tramp, going for an evenening walk, jogging in the stroller, or doing other activities.

Sophie is so funny. She is such a 'busy-body' and always active and curious. She talks in her own little language, it sounds like japanese! It's pretty funny. She is wearing 18 and 24 month clothes and size 6 shoes. Her favorite foods are: chicken noodle soup, velveeta shells and cheese, apples and cinnamon oatmeal, and yogurt. She is such a great water drinker too, and sometimes I put a little splash of juice in. She loves to brush her teeth. It's funny, I have about 5 different tooth brushes. What I have to do is give her one for each hand, then I take one and brush her teeth really good. The Doctor said I could use a teeny tiny amount of kid's toothpaste, but the one time I tried it she didn't like it and I had a hard time getting it rinsed out. After I brush, she uses both her toothbrushes and brushes her teeth! It's so cute. She loves her reflection. Whenever she sees herself in the mirror or the window, she stops and talks to her reflection. She has really gotten into playing with her little dollhouse and and her big kitchen lately. She also loves it when we read to her. She is truly a blessing, we love her so much!

Birthday week

This has been an eventful week. I have worked way more than my life can handle in the past two weeks... I have a wonderful preceptee student that I couldn't have done it without, she has been a great help. Last week I worked my full-time hours, then attended a Trauma Nursing class for certification (2- ten hour classes). So, I worked Sunday (day 6 of 6) and was glad to have Monday off! My sister, who is getting married in August, asked me to help her look for some wedding things. It was fun to hang out with her and everyone loves to shop, but Sophie was not happy about it! It cut our shopping trip short. Sophie hasn't seemed like she's felt good for a while, and Saturday night she started having liquid stools. She hasn't been eating hardly anything all week, so I just chalked her fussiness up to that. I worked Tuesday and my mom was here. Sophie did ok, my mom ran lots of errands and she seemed to do well. She LOVES the trampoline. Like, she laughs the entire time. She likes to walk around and bounce on it. Her favorite thing is when her daddy does tricks, she just watches and laughs so hard. It's infectious, her laugh makes me laugh. She is so sweet, we are so lucky to have her!

I worked again Wednesday, where I learned that I had been caring for a baby for DAYS that had lice. I was the lucky gal to do his treatment, and upon closer examination found several live louse. My boss caught one and put it in a jar and we named her Lucy. It was probably the grossest day ever, because I had been holding and caring for this baby frequently due to the lack of parents at the bedside, and so I couldn't stop worrying if I would have gotten it, despite precautions we take with every patient.. On my way home, I stopped and got some NIX and did a prophylactic treatment. I washed every single clothing/blanket item I had even gotten close too, vacuumed like a mad-woman, and threw away my pillows. It was not something I looked forward to doing after a long days work.

Back to Sophie: My mom watched Sophie both those days I worked and she thought she seemed really sick and wasn't acting right. She was pooping like crazy and refused to eat anything. I had been giving her probiotics since Saturday but they hadn't been helping. Sophie went to bed that night just before 7 and was acting so tired! Thursday I had the day off! I was exhausted but so glad to have a long weekend off. I couldn't wake Sophie up after several attempts (diaper changes, giving her drinks). She'd sit up, cry a little, then lay back down and go to sleep. I tried to chalk it up to her having a growth spurt or something in combination with not feeling good. I got worried (and emotional) when hour 19 of her sleeping came. I made her wake up, put her in the bath where she just kinda sat there in a daze, half-slumped over and tired. I got her dressed, and headed up to my work. We did vitals which were all fine, and she continued to drink which she had been doing ok at. She did take a few bites of a cracker, which was reassuring. For piece of mind I took her in to a work in visit at her peds office, and they were encouraged she was drinking. By that afternoon she really started to perk up, I was glad, I hate seeing her sick, and it's scary being a nurse knowing WHAT can happen if things continue.

Kale had to have an Echocardiogram Thursday. He had some heart-stuff when he was younger (12?) and got a workup that was ok. Lately though he's had severe exercise intolerance, lots of headaches, and palpitations (that are audible to me when I lay on his chest). The doctor wanted to check everything out, so he ordered an EKG, labs, and an Echo at his last appointment. After the echo, Kale and Sophie went home, and I went to window shop at the mall. I have this weird obsession with earrings. I love them, I love having cute ones to wear to work, and being able to match them to lots of different outfits. I found a bunch of clearance ones and it was the highlight of my day! I got dinosaurs, french-fries, snowflakes, animals, carved roses, and some other super cute ones. I was excited! I also found some capri-sweat pants that I love (the red ones I am wearing below).

Friday was my birthday. I am such a lucky gal! I used my gift certificate my husband got me (for Christmas) and got a massage and pedicure that morning. My mom came over and brought me my present... A cruiser bike with a baby seat! Despite the snow, I just had to take it for a test drive. Sophie adored it. She kept laughing and kicking her little legs. It was so fun. It feels unnatural compared to my road bike, so It's going to take some getting used too. I love the vintage look of it and can't wait for me and Sophie to go biking!

Sophie was so sad when we had to get off!

I was able to catch up on some of my DVR stuff (after two weeks of work I had fallen behind) and hang out. That night we got ready and left Sophie with my mom to go out to dinner. My sister and her fiance came with us. We went to Kobe, one of our favorite places to eat! They have the best fried rice there. We were planning on going to a comedy club so to waste time we went to a few stores. I am in search of some jeans that fit me well, but was unsuccessful in finding any. By the time it came time to go to the comedy club, we realized how tired we both really were (ha we're so lame) and went home instead.

I had a great birthday. I just have to profess my love for my husband and daughter. I am such a lucky woman to have such a great family.
