Memorial Day

I had to work today, just a 6 hour shift.  It was a NICE day at work and hardly busy, which was a welcoming change from the past several months.  I got home just in time to throw together a salad and head to a BBQ that the neighbor invited us too.  It was so much fun to hang out with friends and neighbors.  My family never does much so I'm used to have very uneventful holidays/celebrations so it was extra special to get an invite to do something and I loved hanging out and visiting with everyone.  Sophie loved seeing her little friends and all the kids and enjoyed the sandbox and trampoline.  It was such great weather too!

We played some volleyball too, which was awesome.  I love team sports so much.  I am always looking forward to organized play; especially in the ward and stuff.  They say exercise gets your endorphins going to help get you in a good mood, but when I play with friends/team it's like double!  Unfortunately my ward doesn't have a lot of participation with sports but they let me combine with other teams a lot.  I am really interested in trying to sign up with a league this fall for volleyball or basketball with Ogden City.  I hope I can find more out about that.

Anyways, it was so much fun and we are so grateful the neighbors thought of us!

End of May

The last two weeks have been great.  We spent lots of time outside while the weather was still good.  We went to three different parks in one week!  We had a blast with our friends at the Riverdale Park.  Sophie loves her Emery and her Kaden.

We got some things done in the yard.  Sophs loved helping me plant some flowers and especially loves to help me water them every day.

Look how big she is!  She is such a sweetie pie.

We flew solo to this park and didn't stay long because Sophie got a case of the grumpies.

She loves tire swings; it's one of her favorite things!

We went to a park in North Ogden too.  It has a huge soccer field I thought she would like.  She did like it until a 5-year old started to bully her and try to take her ball and kick it before she could get to it.  That's one of the first times I felt a really small taste of what having school age kids must be like.  I am not looking forward to teasing/bullying that goes on now days.

I love Sophie so much.  She loves Primary most days.  It's sometimes hard to get in there, but she always enjoys it and tells me all about singing time and sharing time.  She loves her friends in Primary "Luke and Kate" and her teacher.

We went for a bike ride together with out new bike and spent some time practicing her scooter skills.  She was wearing her baby on her back, it was adorable.

It was such nice weather, we are so glad we got to spent lots of time having fun and being outside before it gets too hot!

Mother's Day

I have such thoughtful family and friends.  I had to work today but woke up to my mother's day surprises!

I got a new blender since mine doesn't really blend anything.  A sweet card, flowers, my favorite treat (Twix) and a sign my cousin helped make.  So cute!  Thank you, I am so grateful and blessed to be a Mother to Sophie.

The hunt for "rollie pollies"

Sophie got a little bug catching set.  She wanted to find some rollie pollies (aka potato bugs).  We went on a hunt for them and finally found one.  We also found a frog and had a fun time throwing rocks into the canal.

Holding the little frog, so brave!

Park Play Date

We got some new carpet in our living room last month.  It's wonderful and we love it!  Sophie especially... it's so soft!

Today we went to the park with some neighbors.  It was a blast.  Sophie loved being there!

We went on the swings, the slide and playground, kicked the ball all around the grass, pet the dogs that were there, and went on the tire swing.

This was probably her favorite.  Except for when she fell through the middle when it was swinging and bumped her noggin.  She only cried for a minute and then wanted to get right back on.

Warm Weather

I can't believe the hot weather here lately!  We have spent lots of time outside.   It's been kite-weather lately and we've had fun getting the kites out.

Sophie loves lounging in the grass and playing outside.

I love her!

Kale Birthday Weekend

We stayed at the hotel with an awesome waterslide in West Valley for Kale's Birthday!  It was fun.  We both worked friday and headed down after.  We lounged in the hotel and then went out for dinner.

The next day was Kale's birthday.  We opened presents and then headed to West Jordan to visit family. They flew a kite at the playground while we were waiting for everyone.

We ate at Kale's favorite restaurant, Outback.  Then we took Sophie's cousins back with us to swim!  It was so much fun!

We watched the Nightmare before Christmas and got some dinner.  It was a fun little getaway.  Poor Kale... usually Sophie is snuggled up to me and Kale has all the room.  Even though it was a King bed Kale spent most of the night trying to not fall off since Sophie was snuggled right up next to him.

Bike

Sophie isn't a great bike rider.  She can't really get steering down.  We like to ride bikes but her legs are FAR too long to sit in the child carrier behind me (don't worry we've tried).  So my solution is this cool bike that rides behind mine!  We put it together and tried it out.  It's a lot of fun and she loves it.  It's still quite big and her toes barely touch the pedals... but she can hold on and that's all she needs.

We had a great bike ride!

Even Grandma has tried it out today, I LOVE it!
