July Fun

I feel like I haven't blogged for a while!

Last week at work I worked far too many days. I worked M, T, had a meeting W, Fr, Sat, Sun! Ick! So needless to say I was tired most every night. I feel like I haven't 'seen' my family for ever, and there were zero groceries in my fridge yesterday.

On Saturday, I worked half of another nurse's shift so missed the parade but we were able to go to the Rodeo. We went out to eat before and got there right before it started. It was PACKED. No where to sit. I was actually glad, because we found a great place to stand. We sat on the pavement when we needed a rest but I don't think Sophie would have sat still anyway. I had her in the Beco and she was enthralled at watching the horses and other animals run by. It was really sunny for the first 20 or so minutes, then we were in the shade which was nice! Sophie lasted until the fireworks at about 1030pm!

Monday we had the pleasure of hanging out with Ms. Lola! She is so dang cute and funny. She LOVES Sophie. She kept busy playing with Sophie's toys, and she was so cute... she'd hand Sophie toys if she couldn't quite reach them, say "bless you" when Sophie sneezed, and would sing songs from TV to Sophie. We had a picnic, went on the swings, and ran an errand.

Lola thought Sophie's cup holder was super cool... but she didn't appreciate Sophie getting near her sippy.

There were some major waterworks when we came in from the swings. I got Sophie out first and she was hysterical and wouldn't let go of the swing, she proceeded to cry at the top of her lungs for the next 15 minutes. Then I got Lola out and then she started to cry too. (Mind you we'd been swinging for almost an hour and my fat old lady legs were tired!) I felt like laughing because here I was carrying two crying babies in from my backyard with the dog following behind us. We loved having Lola over!
That night after Kale got home we were all sitting on the floor playing with Sophie and she decided it was a good time to poop. I unfortunately had her in a disposable and so of course it was a blow out... like 6 inches up her back and out the legs. I couldn't get her clean, so I carried her at arms length and had to get her in the tub... ha.
Her new favorite thing is Arby's Roast beef. She loves that stuff. Of course she loves her yogurt too. She'll eat an entire cup in one sitting! I'm still pumping about every 4-5 hours and that's her main source of nourishment. I am so blessed I haven't had to use any formula... man that stuff is pricey (and it stinks).
Monday night, in lei of our fridge being completely empty except for cheese, mustard/ketchup/miracle whip, and baby yogurt, I made a reluctant trip to Walmart! Oh. my. goodness. It was freak night apparently. I have tried to avoid Walmart because even though the prices are good, it's so... overwhelming at times. Anyway... it took me almost three hours. I left my house at 8pm, entered the checkout line at 958, and by the time I checked out and drove home it was 1118! It was pricey too... I usually make out a meal plan but I just went shopping in the dark. I really want to get a deep freezer for outside in our carport... I would have so much more 'food storage' potential.

Favorite PJs Post

I did it again... I accidentely deleted a bunch of pictures off my SD card. After feeling sad about it, I started googling and found a program to recover them. PHEW! Thank heavens it worked too! I was so glad.

My dad welded us a swing set last Saturday. He had some scrap metal laying around so it was virtually free! We got these swings (one free from a neighbor and one for $2 at the DI) and so it worked out perfect. It's really easy to move and we can convert to bigger swings when we need.

The first time we took Sophie on it, she wasn't sure what to think. She was completely silent and refused to smile. The next day though, she couldn't stop laughing and she loved it. I got a video of her cracking up that I'll have to post ... it's so cute I just love it!

I want to dedicate this post to my favorite pjs. I was quite sad to find out that they don't make the darling footed pjs in 12 mo+ recently. You can find the pjs but they are either this really weird nonflammable fabric that's kinda scratchy (and not cute prints) or there are the fleece ones but they look grungy after a few washes and are a little tight on her chubby thighs. I like the cute, cotton carter ones with cute stuff on the toes (ie lady bugs). Those are my favorite because I don't have to worry about her toes getting cold and they stay really soft.
I searched high and low for them and didn't find them (because carter's doesn't make them - I asked). At Ross though, I found these darling ones from Osh Kosh. You'd have to see her in them to really appreciate the pjs. She looks so cute in them! Her little bubble but, chunky monkey thighs, and her cute long torso... I could just eat her up I love this girl so much! It was the best $6 I ever spent and I love them... I kinda wish I had a pair in my size cause I'd totally wear them. So we had a little photo shoot. I tried to only pick a few of my favorites, but she was so cute in all of them I had to post a ton (probably too many).
Here is my happy girl who was up super late the other night (like 10pm, wowsers!)

Swing Set

Here is the swing set I talked about in the post above.

A picture post

Found this great shop on etsy that has the cutest felt hairclipies! I recently got an ice cream cone, a bee, an owl, lady bugs, and ... I can't remember the other one.

9 Month Visit

We had Sophie's 9 month appointment (it's a little later than 9 mo). It was good. Sophie didn't have to get any shots but she did have to get her little piggy poked for an Iron test. She was 37 (33+ is normal). I was surprised because I suck at giving her the nasty vitamins with iron and she doesn't really eat anything fortified with iron.

My baby is getting to be such a big girl! She loves to babble and play. She is SUCH a mama's girl. She always wants me to hold her and she loves to snuggle into my shoulder. She like to also pull my hair. She's got quite the temper. I brought it up to the Doctor even! She does this growl and a high pitched scream when she's mad. I was in line at the store and she kept doing that and if I said "NO" she'd get more mad. People were giving me looks. My doc said to just do what I'm doing: redirect and say No. She is a great sleeper. She goes to bed about 7 and sleeps sometimes until 10. I usually feed her when I pump in the morning (either 4am or 7am) but she stays asleep or goes back to sleep immediately. She still takes usually three naps a day, sometimes two... ranging from 1-2 hours. She is definitely a sleeper! She's getting 6 teeth in all at once right now so she's miserable. Two more on the bottom (to add to her two) and 4 on the top! Poor girl.

She wears mostly 12 month size clothes and size 3 diapers. We're still cloth diapering but have moved away from prefolds and use more of the one-size AIOs (bumgenius are the go-to). We do a disposable at night though since she is sleeping so long.

At her appointment she was 19lb 14oz (66%), 29inches tall (84%), OFC 44.5 (63%).

We love our doctor! She is so nice. Sophie screamed the entire exam though. Ha! She has such stranger danger! She wont let anyone hold her but me (sometimes Kale). Our doctor gives us something fun every time. The first time we went when we switched to her we got a quilt, and this time a book (which Sophie had eaten half of before the appointment was over).

She is eating better. She will usually take an ounce of either applesauce or bananas once a day. She LOVES LOVES LOVES yogurt though. She'll take 4oz of that every day. She loves it, and I cant scoop it in fast enough. The other fruits and vegetables we've tried she still hates. The doctor said to try cottage cheese. I got some to attempt.

Last night I had to work and my friend was watching her. She has a baby a week younger. She was so cute, when I came in she was holding/feeding both of them a bottle and she said "I could have had twins!" I am so grateful for her help. She doesn't read my blog, but still I can't help but shout out to her because she is such a great friend and nurse. She had Sophie fed, bathed, and in pjs! She said Sophie ate like a hog. She had real green beans, ham, and mashed potatoes and loved them all! I knew she loved potatoes, but couldn't believe she took the green beans. We tried some more at home and she ate them like they were going out of style! Also, I'm always afraid to give her meat. We eat a lot of redmeat. Plus I am afraid she'll choke! But I guess she loved the Ham. It's hopeful when she eats good.

I hear her awake from her nap. Her teeth are bothering her so bad. I am going to go cuddle her now. I just love her so much!

July 4

We tried going to church but it's always such a struggle! We have 11am church, and 11 is when Sophie naps so she's always SO grumpy. I used to be able to get her to sleep but now she's such a busy body she wont calm down enough to sleep. We only made it half way through the sacrament.

After she napped, Sophie and I went up to visit a family friend, Jane. It was fun, she hadn't seen the baby for months. Sophie took some time to warm up to her but eventually she would let Jane hold her as long as I wasn't in the room. Jane made lunch and a cake (it was her twins' birthday). Sophie got a taste of the frosting and loved it! She also had some of the banana cake and fruit. She especially loved the cantaloupe.

Independence Day

Kale had to work on the 3rd of July for a few hours. We wanted to go to the Cherry Days Parade. I went with the family of my friend Jen (she couldn't go). Her husband's friend lived on the street so we had awesome, shady front row seat for the parade!
Sophie in her new (free) carseat. I still can't get over getting it free!
Mid parade

Later that day when Kale got off work we went to eat at the Olive Garden (mm!). Then we went to see the fireworks at Fremont HS. It was a spur of the moment thing, so they had already started but we caught a good ten minutes of them. Sophie was mesmerized by them! It was fun.

Went to visit Great Grandpa that day.

North Shore

I've been a bad blogger lately! Life gets busy sometimes.

We went to North Shore, It was so much fun! It is the perfect pool for little ones I think. Sophie loves the water (as always).

My Sweet Nurse Friends!
Sophie loved Heather
Autumn was a little water bug!
I know her face isn't convincing, but she actually liked the slide
Sophs and Parker just chillin!
Love this girl!

Every time I go in Sophie's room I almost bust up laughing. She sleeps in the funniest, cutest ways. This is a favorite... on her side with her legs crossed. I love it.

9 Months and Ogden River Parkway

Sophie is 9 months old today! I can't believe it. I dont have any stats because her appointment is Monday. I still have 50 of the 60lbs I gained during my pregnancy to lose, ha. Before I got pregnant I was doing weight watchers and had lost almost 15lbs... then I got preggo. I was working out pretty good a bit ago but since I am pumping and keeping my milk supply is my number one priority, I haven't worked out very hard since she stopped nursing. That is so important I will do whatever it takes to keep my milk. Pumping is getting old... 1 month down, three to go. I spaced my sessions out to every 4 hours starting at 7am and with my last one at 11pm. I can do this! Sophie is doing better with foods. The past week she'll take almost a whole ounce of baby food a couple times a week, woot woot! She takes table food pretty good if we go out but I still worry about her choking with some things, and I'm too scared to give her lots of our meat entrees.
Last night after I got home from work, I was SO tired! I fed Sophie and put her to bed about 8. She slept until 11am today! Then I went to the Parkway with some friends. I had Sophie in the Beco. It was a HOT day. Halfway through our walk I took Sophie wading in the river. I stripped her down to her cloth dipe and we went wading. It was so funny to see her reaction to being there with so much to look at and hear... she thought it was so fun. It was pretty cold (I thought it felt good on such a hot day though) but she still was kicking and and wanting to play in the water. I'm such a loser - I didn't even bring her a hat or put sunscreen on but luckily she tans well because she isn't burnt at all; I was worried she would be. She just has a little farmer's tan. She was pretty tired at the end at let me know she was done and wanted to go home to her bed. On the way home I was so thirsty, I stopped at a gas station and got a slurpee... she of course wanted some so I gave her a taste. She's so dang cute. Then I broke down and got her a sucker because she was so fussy. She loved it, was quiet the entire ride, and it was gone by the time we got home! She took a great nap, woke up and was such a happy girl and we have been playing, and I just put her down. Now to my huge pile of laundry...
